Hi @simonsimfield and welcome to the forum.

A bit more info would help members to focus their comments. So, how did you come to be diagnosed, do you know what the HbA1c result was and what medication are you on?

Welcome to the forum @simonsimfield

48 is only just over the edge for a diagnosis with diabetes, so you may find that relatively modest adjustments to your menu will work well.

Obviously it can help to cut out the ‘usual suspects’ of sweet and sugary things, but diabetes is about total carbohydrates, not just sugars, so a bit of portion control for the carby things on your plate will work wonders too.

Many new members find it can be really a helpful starting point to keep a food diary for a week or two. Be brutally honest! Note down everything you eat and drink. Especially helpful of you can
estimate the amount of total carbohydrate in the meals and snacks, as it will give you an idea of which foods are the main sources of carbs in your menu, and help identify some easy early candidates for carb moderation.

Keep asking questions, and let us know how you get on 🙂
