Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I was diagnosed type 2 last July (2014)

A great surprise but apparently there is a
family history of sorts - an uncle and a great grandmother!

I appear so far to be controlled by diet and I am keen to
continue this way for as long as possible. I have given up potatoes, rice, bread and pasta and keep my carbohydrate intake as low as possible.

I test fasting and then 2 hours after breakfast, lunch and dinner. I fund my own strips as others appear to do. Using CodeFree at present. Fasting blood sugars are regularly under 6 and less than 7.5 at 2 hours after each meal
My recent glycated haemoglobin was 39.

I am new to posting so please excuse my hesitancy!

Hi doc007, welcome to the forum 🙂 It sounds like you are doing an excellent job, and controlling your diabetes very well - well done on getting to grips with it. It's not easy to make the adjustments you have done, but you you appear to have adapted well 🙂

Hi doc007
Welcome to the forum 🙂

Thank you all very much for your words of welcome.
I'm looking through the forum and finding it very interesting so
I'm sure I'll be back to ask for advice!

Hello Doc007 and welcome to the forum. Sounds as though you are doing a brilliant job, well done. We are all different and it could be that you will be able to control the condition with D&E for many years. I am in the same situation and hoping that it will last for a very long time. The lovely people on this forum will be happy to answer any questions that you have and they know a huge amount about diabetes. They helped me to get where I am now. Good luck and take care 🙂
