I just got diagnosed July 4th 2022.
Not in the best way. I had DKA, went into a coma followed by no pulse or blood pressure. Blood sugar was in the 2000s.
The doctors brought me back after multiple organ failures including kidneys. My kidneys have returned to normal now. My eye sight is still fuzzy though.
So yeah, happy to be here.

So ... welcome back to this world! Sounds suitably dramatic and welcome to this forum. Looks like your body clock is out of kilter ...
Are you still in hospital or now home?
I have no experience of eyesight problems, but I understand the increase in BG changes the salinity in your eyeball and if that happens slowly then your brain adjusts what you are seeing to give you a reasonable 'snapshot' as the incremental changes occur. Then the relatively abrupt reversal is salinity leaves you with blurry vision and it takes time for things to settle down again. Don't rush to the opticians for a new prescription! But some people report successfully using the cheap interim fixed prescription lenses obtainable from most chemists.

I am home now. I did see my Optometrist and he did an eye exam to make sure my optics were not physically damaged. I have to go back in five weeks for another test.

Strange thing is my glucose keeps dropping now instead of going up. I drink or eat anything to get it back up. Then it will lower to optimal range by itself without insulin.
It has me confused

Welcome to the forum @rootlinux

We don’t have many members from the US, so some suggestions from members here may not apply to you as healthcare systems do vary - but diabetes is one big worldwide family, so we’re happy you’ve found us 🙂

Sounds like you are having a rough and confusing time. DKA is more commonly seen with autoimmune versions of diabetes, where there is absolute insulin insufficiency. Were any checks carried out for GAD antibodies or cPeptide to assess your body’s remaining insulin production?
