Hi Emma

I am always surprised how many people with diabetes that I meet are unaware of this forum, and also of the monthly news email that I get. I am attending one of the DUK T 1 Away Days this weekend. I shall do my bit in signposting these to people I meet. I wonder whether at these events it would be good to circulate a signposting sheet to highlight what is available. If people are not currently using the website they will not be aware of the amount of support that is available.

In preparation for the weekend, I thought I would make sure that I could find the forum and also access to the emails that I receive. I know what I am looking for and struggling to find a logical route in the website.

This forum
It would be great if there was a hyperlink where this is mentioned in the route through especially when I went to Online

Emails I receive
I cann T remember how I ended up receiving these and cannot find a route to them on the website.

Can you help?

Easiest way to get to the forum is to click on the button at the top of every page of the Diabetes UK main website 🙂

Early on when I found the forum I saved the address (https://diabetessupport.co.uk/boards/), creating a hyperlink, and just used that all the time. I'm much more likely to come here than the Diabetes UK website.
Hmmmm, the address I saved works. However, the one displayed in the address bar while on the site appears to different. Curious!

That's the old address @Ralph-YK, it redirects to the new one that was introduced when we upgraded in October 2015🙂

Hi Emma - and what a pleasant change, a real PWD working for DUK !

Are you actually the first? I know I asked some years ago and the people leading whatever session I was attending didn't think there were any.

Hi @trophywench There's a few of us here now! It's definitely a good working environment as a PWD 🙂

Hi @SB2015, Thanks for signposting!

When you originally signed up for the forum you might have ticked the box to receive our newsletter emails.

If you want to DM me with what kind of emails they are I'll be able to find out for you 🙂

I have no problem getting to here as the forum just comes up as soon as I start typing and I now have a quick link to it.
I was just trying to approach it from the point of view of someone who does not already know about it
I was surprised at a meeting of 6 youngsters when we're keen to volunteer for DUK that none of them were aware of it.
I followed the How we help > Online and thee it is mentioned along with other tech things, but with no hypoerlink which seemed a shame.

Haha that's okay, yeah I go on the internet on my phone on here, but its slow!

As I said though, there is a 'Forum' button at the top of every page of the DUK website, making it easy to find, also on the page you mention here there is a link in the right-hand sidebar, where it says 'Exchange knowledge and experience in the Diabetes UK Support Forum' - clicking on this links to a page which explains about the forum and has a big button to access it 🙂

@BrokenPancreas1994 Unfortunately, there isn't a Diabetes UK app for the forum at the moment. It is something that we are looking into developing so watch this space!

Also a big thanks and hello to everyone who's been welcoming me over the weekend 🙂
