Hi Claudia, welcome to the forum 🙂 What insulin are you using? Please let us know how we can help! 🙂

Welcome to the forum @claudia thomas, and I am glad that you have found us.

have learnt so much from others on here and also valued the support that they give, whether that is practical, emotional or just understanding a good rant.

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with things at present, I am a few years ahead of you, but also hit a patch of depression at around 9 years in.

As @Northerner says, we can be if more help if you are happy to let us know how you manage your T1.
Also please feel free to ask any questions that you have.

I used to get panic attacks so I know about how anxiety feels. I'm sorry you have anxiety and diabetes aswell. It can be difficult because being anxious can affect your sugar levels as I know. I have mental health issues and diabetes type 1 and am also trying to lose weight. I think try to get the blood sugars as best you can at whatever your target level should be then say your on the same insulin as me: novorapid 3 injections in day and one levemir at night. Keep the insulin amounts for 3 days more or less the same then ask your nurse how much to reduce it by if you're eating less carbs or have a change in diet. That's what my nurse told me. Hope this helps.

Also I find green tea can lower blood sugar levels but you should adjust your insulin aswell as drinking it as it may go too much low if you start off with a good sugar level before drinking it. It's best to drink it after meals but don't drink too much as it may aggravate your anxiety as it's caffeine. I had a caffeine overdose once it was horrible but only because I drunk a whole 2 litre big bottle of sugar free Dr pepper in one day.

If the effect were that large it would surely be easy to experimentally verify, and yet WebMD's summary suggests most evidence doesn't show that.

I'd be inclined to treat it like I treat cinnamon: it's something I like adding to coffee (and sometimes other things), but I do it because I happen to like the flavour, not because it'll help lower blood sugar (which it probably doesn't).

Ok thanks for your opinion but it works for me. Although I will say it's giving me nightmares at night and giving me hypos in think I can't drink it before going to bed.

you must be very susceptible to caffeine, I could go through 8 litres of fizzy juice a day without any effects of caffeine and certainly no overdose x
