Am suffering from horrendous heartburn at the moment which I have put down to stress and wondered if its OK to take over the counter remedies now I have the D ? Its making me feel pretty miserable so any tips would be greatfully received x

I suffer constant heartburn & take Omeprazole, which is on prescription. Gaviscon is fine as it is sugar free & you can also get sugar free rennies.

Gaviscon it is just hope it helps x thank you x

You can buy Omeprazole over the counter but it is expensive (I think about £12!!). A quick trip to the dr would save you some money, answer your questions and give you the help you need. I went to my go recently with the same problem and was prescribed Omeprazole too.

Thank you I am going to ring the doctor tomorrow x

Omeprazole is rumoured to cause Dementia, Mum takes it regularly and has Dementia, don't know if there's any link but I stopped taking it as soon as I read this. Can't bear to drink Gaviscon, just yuck! I do Atkins, it's the only thing that cures my acid reflux, my indigestion and my heartburn. I can almost hear my friend asking me to stop being so evangelical about the Atkins, but if it's true it's true!
