Uum, so since yesterday I have had a really strong heartbeat. It doesn't hurt its just very strong so that I can feel it, sort of like in my throat too haha. My sugars aren't running high, although they are higher than they have been due to christmas and everything, last night I went to be on a 9.8, this morning it was 8.5.

I just don't have an explanation for this one?

Is it more rapid than usual, or does it just appear to be beating more strongly?

Are you worrying/stressed Liz ?

Rob

In which case, it's unlikely to be anything to worry about. I can only think of adrenalin which might have that effect.

There's always NHS direct if you're still concerned. If it were your heart playign up, I would imagine you'd be out of breath and in pain.

I've just googled and found a list of possible causes for palpitations...

Heart palpitations can be caused by:
Most of those would have secondary symptoms, so if it's just the pounding heart then most likely would be caffeine (discounting cocaine ! 😱). 🙂

Thanks for that, I can't say I have had a lot of caffiene.. mind you more green tea than usual? But I used to drink loads anyway and never got this before.

Can low levels of oxygen be caused by hyperglycemia? I think this would make sense, but then I would have higher numbers? 6 - 15 recently... and also I would be thirsty anyway? Which i'm not.

Theres no pain associated or anything, i'm not more tired than usual or anything else. So I really don't know.

Could also be that your ears are beginning to block, when mine start to get a build up of wax I can ear my heartbeat loud and clear.

I went to my GP not long ago because I felt my heart was missing a beat - the GP said that as we get older our heart rhythm changes so at times it will feel stronger as though its about to jump out your chest; more rapid like when you're frightened, and as though you are missing a beat when infact it is an extra beat because you're heart is counting the beats and adds an extra because it feels its missed one (if that makes sense).

All in all it will settle in time; apparently everyone will experience the above as we get older...Don't worry to much about it; as you said there is no pain associated and I'm sure will settle down when you least think about it.

Hope this makes sense...🙂

i'm only 19 😱 what hope do I have for the future then haha!

In other news... It has sort of calmed down. BS is 9.7, blood is pretty dark though and I also just peed on a stick no glucose present??? no ketones as usual either.

LOL sorry I'm only a spring chicken myself... glad things are calming down xx
(Amanda aka don't put foot in mouth....🙄)

My blood is thick and dark when my BG is high, and thinner and lighter red when it's lower.

I'd never trust a pee glucose test - at best it tells you what was happening 2 hours ago and that depends on whether you happen to have a high, low or normal renal threshold. And it only indicates that your BG is over 10.0 anyway! so tells you just about nowt of any use at all, really .......

I think that brighter red means that the blood is more oxygenated - it's how my blood looks when I fingerprick after a run 🙂

I noticed that with Rob's blood. Thought it was just him lol
I find it handy especially when out as I can start rummaging in my bag for my stash of jelly babies whilst we're waiting on the result 🙂

Sarah 🙂

Hi Everyone, me again.

I got someone to have a listen! Not a doctor though haha, apparently its beating slow twice, fast twice then appears to sort of pause :/ then when I take a big breath it 'resets' and beats like it ought to, slow and steady.

I'd get that listened to by someone who IS a doctor.

It's most likely absolutely nowt to worry about but frankly if it were me I'd want to be told that by someone who knows what they're talking about!

You need to see a doctor and have an ECG. Any arrhythymia should be investigated no matter what age you are. Disrupted heart rhythms can be a consequence of a diabetic complication called Autonomic Neuropathy ( natural functions you don't have to think about are disrupted).
Heart pauses are potentially serious.

If you see your Dr - they will probably take your pulse which could well be behaving at the time. However, tell them you are worried and describe what your friend heard and hopefully they will investigate.
