Had a phone call at lunchtime today from the cardiac surgeon's secretary giving me my date for my heart valve and by-pass surgery. I am to go in on wed 21 june for my pre-op checks and in on 26th june for my opperation on the 27th. 😱
The nerves are starting to work already:( They will confirm this in writing during the next few days. So unless anything untoward happens it is fingers crossed for the 27th

Well, the very best of luck malturn. It all is rather worrying with folk fiddling with your ticker, but this is all such common surgery these days with very positive outcomes (including my next door neighbour), that it's almost routine. And they don't let you out of theatre till everything is in full working order, so you'll wake up a new man. A very sore new man, admittedly, but that will be the only downside. We'll all be rooting for you🙂

Hi Maltern. Thanks for giving us the heads up re your heart surgery - I realise this is a big worry for you so it's understandable and most natural that the nerves are beginning to kick in just by thinking about it - yes this is a huge op but try to remain calm if you can - big breath in.......hold...... big breath out......relax. Heart surgeons are experts & know what they're doing. Hope your pre-op assessment goes well too - will be thinking of you on the 27th and wish you well Maltern. Please do stay in touch and take care (((hugs))) x

Best of luck

Good! - and as I always look on the bright side of life Mal - at least the news and short wait, will keep your bowels nice and regular before going in to have it done!
