Haha, the admin fixed it now I think. You can see my Hello thread now right? 🙂

I wonder if there'll be any activity now...

Just got a note clipped to my repeat prescription form stating the health authority has asked the surgery to supply patients with a new testing machine, and that they have taken my other testing strips off repeat and added the iCare strips and Caresense lancets!! there's no info about the meter, no consultation or anything! I have 6 month hospital appt on thurs, so will discuss there - anyone else had same happen?

Same here it would have been nice to have been asked.

It's very rude when it's something that your health may depend upon and that you are comfortable with just to change your treatment options without asking :(

I have tried to get a reply from Icare with no luck now I am posting on there facebook page as there forum seems dead.
I wonder how many likes it gets?

' how do I go about getting a spare meter Abbots sent me 2 extra with no quibles plus some test fluid a really good case and a lead to attach it to my PC well done Abotts '

Didf you ever get a reply Paul, or test fluid?

DiabetesUK have very recently campaigned to stop this happening and against rationing of test strips.

If you contact their careline, they may be able to offer some advice and possibly contact the PCT on your behalf.

I have my 1st year DAFNE review tomorrow and will say that I want to go back to my old meter - I've tried the iCare, but don;t like the fact it has no backlight and not many options for viewing results etc. Came with flimsy drawstring case which is useless for me, and the finger pricker never worked. iCare seem to be difficult to contact too.

I just phoned iCare and they were very helpful - they are taking feedback about any issues with the meter and have already produced a new finger pricker. I said I would like a backlight. they are sending me test solution, batteries, a zip case instead of the floppy, useless one I got with the meter, and will send a memory stick for up and downloading, which will be replacing the lead. I was going to change meters, but as most of the issues I had have been resolved, I'll stick by it for a while. Oh, the lady also said just give them a call if I need a new meter, or finger pricker etc. - so I suggest you call them instead of trying to make contact via the website or forums. The number I called was: 08446932767
