Relationship to Diabetes
Quick question ,,,
Can diabetes cause major headaches ?
New to all this my hubby has type 2 diabetes and sufferers from headache to the point where he is crying anxiety chest muscular pains and shaking nightly is this a hypo i may sound stupid and over reacting but I really don't have a clue thanks Adele xx

Hi Adele, Not sure about headaches, I have never had them myself, has your hubby had his blood pressure checked? We have a blood pressure monitor that we use to check ours at home, called Omron I think it was about £20 from Amazon, it might give him peace of mind. Also if he is worried about hypo's a BG meter could check for that. They are invaluable for Type 2's anyway, if he checks before and after foods he can see which foods spike his levels and which he is safe with. Not many doctors prescribe these meters (mine did!! 🙂🙂) but most people on here recommend buying the Codefree meter, available on Amazon. As for chest pains, I would get medical advice.

Adele, you do NOT sound stupid, we have all been newbies and started with zero understanding of diabetes. You are not over reacting. Keep asking, and even if you have no questions, keep in touch Jean xx

You could phone nhs24 for advise.

Welcome to the forum @Adele martin

Coincidentally this topic was recently discussed here: https://forum.diabetes.org.uk/board...e-morning-anybody-have-a-problem-as-we.73196/

The general consensus seemed to be that headaches are not usually connected to diabetes, with the possible exception of the ones which can follow fairly severe low blood glucose (sometimes referred to as ‘hypo hangover’). These follow after hypo recovery but are not a symptom of the hypo itself. Hypo symptoms can include disorientation, sudden severe hunger, anxiety, sweating, tingling lips, visual disturbance but vary from person to person.

Does your husband monitor his own blood glucose?

Sounds like you should book an appointment with your GP to discuss it.
