HI

I started asking this question a few days ago- my computer has been out so I did not see any comments. now I can not find them,

I never used to suffer from head aches, - now I seem to get head aches which last days-- most of the time it is a back ground head ache, but not always, some times very evil ------ pain killers do not seem to help ------ is this diabetes or something else.

I hope you are feeling better and got things checked out

Hi

Dr just gave me some pills to help me sleep!! all ~I can say is I never used to get head aches - unless I needed new glasses-
Now I seem to get grumbily achy head aches - most weeks - which seem to last anything up to 3 or 4 days! Pain killers do not seem to help much. One day when was out and needed a drink the only thing in the car was a can of Dunn?s river nourishment (in my canoe kit) I drank it and with in 20 minutes head ache gone. Given that the content is 429 calories (plus vitamins and minerals) in liquid form (www.nurishment.co.uk) I do not want to make a habit of it as I assume that it would be a bad idea.
my diabetic nurse at the Dr's just said if you need a drink have a drink!

Hi Andrew

Are you testing your blood sugars ?

Your headaches could be due to elevated BGs or possibly false hypo effects as your body adjusts to lower levels. Impossible to say really without some way of knowing what's happening to you at the time.

If you're not sleeping enough, it could be that or it could be that the pills are causing it. I would go back to your GP and report your symptoms in case it's something that needs treatment or investigation.🙂

ni I am not testing when i asked i was told that i did not need to< Some nights I have a poor sleep record but not every night
Due to see the Dr at the end of the week so I am interested in things to raise with him - away from the so called diabetic nurse who I am sure is just using some sort of check sheet. but no feel for diabetes

If you suspect you need new glasses and are due an eye test, go and see the opticians. I hoe your head aches clear up.

Hi Andrew I have chronic headaches that were sometimes lasting for days at a time and making me cry. They still happen on most days, and sometimes hurt very badly when I wake up, but are usually not as bad since I saw my GP. My GP identified that the pain was caused by my neck and has given me four neck exercises to do every hour and these help a lot. She also suggested regular massages which also helped but unfortunately now I can't drive I've stopped having these.

Another cause of bad headaches is dehydration and the symptoms may be the actual headache........my understanding is that feeling thirsty is one of the later stages in dehydration.. It might therefore be a good idea to check if you are drinking enough alcohol free sugar free liquid on a regular basis
