Hba1c

Just had my bloods back....
Fairly soon after dx I was Hba1c 11.9. BG 9.1

Today I am Hba1c 6.8. bG 7.5

And he hasn't increased my metformin, just told me to go and keep doing what I am doing....

I know I have read it on here before but what are the levels I am aiming for? Am sure BG will always be raised because of Dawn phenomenon

Great results!

According to my Diabetes X-Pert course notes, that puts you in the Good Control bracket. You need an HbA1c<6.5% for Tight Control (just to give you a little nudge! 😉 ).

At diagnosis I was 13.3% and my next reading was 6.9% three months after, then 6.2% and my last couple were 5.9%. So it looks like you're on a similar track to me.

p.s. The guidelines given to me RE: Spot BG readings were
1) Pre-Meal --> 4-7mmol/L
2) 2hrs post-meal --> 7-9mmol/L
3) Try and avoid <4mmol/L (hypo) and >10mmol/L (hyper)

Well done! 🙂 That's almost exactly the same as me - I was 11.8% on diagnosis and 6.8% at the following test. 🙂
