Not a great result, but hey, it's only my first! 89 or 10.3% in old money!

Metformin doubled to 2g daily, and next test in 8 weeks. I'm being so good with the carbs, so hopefully I'll get a better result next time.

I'm testing before and after meals, and I'm only rising about 3 points, so that's not too bad. Shame my baseline seems to be about 15 *sigh* Spiking up to 22 for no apparent reason is a bit unnerving though.

As you say, it is your first, and as you learn more you will improve I am sure 🙂 You've already identified that it's not so much your meals, but the starting point you need to tackle most, and hopefully the extra medication will help with that.

It's early, and you're doing all the right things by the sound of it.
Exercise can have an amazing effect on your baseline level if you can up that a bit (I was at 8.9 the other morning, went for a brisk walk and that went down to 5.8).

Exercise seems to help a lot if you have a lot of insulin resistance, especially muscular insulin resistance. However, if you are a bit like me ? you might find that you only get a small drop with exercise.

Metformin is primarily targeted at insulin resistance although it does seem to help with morning levels as well to an extent.

If I was in your position I would be tempted to consider a change of medication. I did actually discuss it will my doctor but as my post-meal levels were not regularly going +3 over the pre-meal then they didn?t want to try that.

If I hadn?t of swapped a few items in my food for low(er) GI and reduced my carbs the I suspect I could still hit +3.

Keep on at it - you will get there I'm sure 🙂
