Any improvement with your hba1c is excellent! its extremely hard, to dicipline yourself with food, live your life and worry about weighting food and counting carbs...
i've been working for the past 3 months to get mine lower and the nurse phone me today and told me i've got it down to 6.9%!! i'm still in shock cant believe it thats my hba1c level lol - wow!! xx
hi, i know that HbA1c is the average over 3 months but is it the same as bg results, ie the test machine said my average for last month is 9.2 so would my HbA1c be 9.2 as well?
Thanks
Julie x
my last one was 8.5, and i got yelled at. That was over a year ago, and being yelled at kind of put me off going and getting them done. Oh hello rebellion.
BUT
I'm going to talk to my GP on thursday and see if he can send me to get one done before I leave winchester. Need to get back into the swing of things with it all again

Sounds like a good plan. Try and remember the health professionals are there to support and provide you with a service, not the other way around! 🙂
Hi everyone
Got my HbA1c score today - it was 7.0 (last one was 7.7 up on the previous 7.4). I was delighted and looked it. Grumpy old nurse said "It could be better" talk about bursting my bubble. I think 7.0 is good control (diet and exercise). I would welcome your views - am I being too happy without reason?
Ceara
yes i have said abot this a thread previous all these numbers we strive to get it really annoys me how some healthcare prof are not happy even if we have gone down i was 9.4 in jan and then got to 7 and my gp was really happy that i had got that down , i think any numbers that come down deserve praise tbh not critisism at the end of the day we all try our best ! xo
I recently had a knock back after getting my cholesterol down to 4.9, only to be told that, although that would be fine for a non-diabetic, I must get it down below 4!![]()
Well done you Ceara! I think you had every reason to be proud of yourself getting it down with just D and E, and it's a terrible shame that the doctors and nurses who don't encourage, just complain that you haven't done better, don't realise how demoralising and damaging their attitude can be!
For me, there's nothing worse than a put-down when expecting a bit of praise to send me straight down the cake-shop for comfort
