Just had my blood test results back today . After a year of trying to follow a low carb diet.
Really pleased that after following all the great advice on here that it has come back on my patient record as Normal. Was 46 and has come down to 36 so I am delighted that with all your advice and help plus willpower on my part it has worked.
Now I have got quite used to my diet and will really stick to my new way of eating.
With just the odd treat.

Many congratulations on a great result. Hope your nurse gives/gave you a big pat on the back because you deserve it. Well done and best of luck with maintaining that success.

I actually haven’t seen a nurse I’ve only seen my results as I have access to my patient records online. So would be nice to actually see what they had to say but they only get in touch when anything is wrong. Thanks for that comment.

Really great result @Theo .Congratulations and good to hear all your hard work has paid off. I expect you will hear from the nurse at your next annual review for a feet check and next hba1c.

Great news and well done. As you say it needs to be sustainable long term. Stick at it and congrats again.

Well done @Theo :star:
That is a marvellous result and one to be very proud of and a result that I'm sure will encourage others

Hi,

I agree with you. Check out my hba1c results , in all that time I have never received a 'well done' from anyone at the surgery. Although I am all grown up, a little pat on the back would be nice. Rather than the constant seeing what is wrong.

Just how I feel as you say we are grown up enough to know that getting HbA1c levels down is for our own good but a little bit of praise would be nice. Just a text saying well done as I got to tell me readings were higher than usual would do me. Because if it wasn’t for the additional advice that I got on this forum it wouldn’t have been so easy. The diabetic nurse left me feeling depressed when I saw her for advice as made it sound as though I had to cut everything out. Could I just ask how you managed to get a blood test only 7 and 9 months apart on a couple of your tests as my gp will only do them yearly when pre diabetic.

Can't remember why, I think i simply received a text and booked it. No particular reason. Now it is only annual.

I find that after a year of low carb and finding so many good ideas plus the fact that it’s worked I don’t want to change that much. Even though I feel less guilty having the odd treat as I know that I can go back to low carb the next day. As I have today and now feel guilty having had fish and chips in our favourite fish restaurant. Only second time in past year.

I have fish and chips more often than that 😉
