just looked them up online...HbA1c now 46...last one was 51...so have come down a little...initially wanted a little lower...however...think myself fortunate they didn't go up...cholesterol results a little disappointing...total cholesterol still high at 7.65...HDL 1.5...LDL 5.5...Triglycerides 1.41...so HDL & Trigs at normal level...whereas LDL and total cholesterol still considered according to my calculations (but what would I know) high risk...review on Monday...hope the 'statins' question doesn't raise it's ugly head...so reasonably positive🙂.

Bubbsie,
Any fall in hbA is good thing, hay give yourself comfort re cholesterol mine was so bad the lab could not even get a reading from it 😱 good luck at review Monday

It puts you outside of the Diabetic level of 48 Bubbsie so if you'd presented today at the GP's with that level, he'd have simply told you you were pre-diabetic and advised you accordingly. I hope you don't need statins but the HDL and trigs at good levels is a really positive thing. It's a good result! 🙂

TBH...I was a little disappointed initially...thought I'd done better...but...Rome wasn't built in a day...think it because it's taken me nine months to get there...doing exactly what I always caution against...rushing...so...onwards to the next one...view it as a good result...not great on cholesterol...but will be prepared for GP next week if he thinks I'm taking statins...he'll have his work cut out😎😎.

If they do raise the subject of statins and you are not sure about them ask about Fenofibrate, this is what I take as I am unable to tollerate startins and they seem to work for me.

That is quite as drop. It is 5 points.
You're right grovesy...and of course it gives me a new (achievable ) target to work towards for the next one...have to be pleased with any drop...and it is as you say a 5 point drop...thank you.

Yes...you're right too (grovesy)...was looking forward to getting into the non-diabetic range...but...have to be satisfied with 46...had time to reflect on the result...feel a bit of a tit really...it is positive...been so occupied with it for the last couple of weeks...stressed...stressed...stressed...good to get it out of the way TBH...thanks.

Thanks malturn...will look them up...just read about the awful side effects of statins so many times...want to discuss what is right for me...at least be involved in any decision.

I really understand you wish it had gone down even lower, that is disappointing for you. Yet please know how well you are doing, to come down 5 points is brilliant! And just looking from October you have come down 20 points which is outstanding. Maybe you can have that roast with stuffing and gravy for celebrating? 🙂

Thanks Jo...hadn't thought of it that way...had a bit of a knee jerk reaction...feel a bit silly now (there's an admission)...out to a colleagues leaving 'do' tomorrow evening...opted for the pulled pork with a snazzy chilli sauce...possibly some chips...dare devil me...have a good weekend.

That's a great result @Bubbsie, and you've achieved it sensibly with a regime you can stick to 🙂 I have found over the past 8 years that, as time has gone on, I've gradually been able to refine things as I've discovered more about how diabetes affects me - I have no doubt the same will happen to you if you stick with it 🙂 Remember - marathon, not sprint, marathon, not sprint, marathon, not sprint... 😉

I have been there too!
Well I dare you, have the chips if you feel like it!

Well done, Bubbsie! I know you wanted more ( I mean less!) but a slow and steady drop is probably the best way.

Since I'm not built for speed (anymore)...spot on advice for me Alan...something I always caution against...rushing...forgot myself there for just a moment...sensible head on now ( bet you're surprised I have one🙂)...it is a good result (helped along greatly by the advice I've received here)...achieved over the last nine months...so much of what I do now is routine for me...yes absolutely a regime I can sustain long term...as you say adjust.with a little fine tuning...who knows?...thank you.

Okay Jo...but only if you insist...that way I'll have someone to blame...great idea...and I have it in writing😛😛😛.

Yes Robin that's right...feeling a little sheepish now... have to be satisfied with achievements so far...besides...if I'd got to non-diabetic range...could have missed out on those wonderful reviews with Dr Max Medication...having my foot poked...blood tests...taking my meds...what on earth would I do with my time then...cheers...have a good weekend.
