HbA1c results are back :( :(

After constant moaning at the old docs and having moved to a new doc last year about my levels and the latest HbA1c coming back in as 64 which doc is not happy about at last.

He said continue on the max of the gliclazide until Feb to see if any change as I only upped it to the max last week, he did say I don't need to test very much which he then changed his mind when I said I do drive and said yes I need to test.

Options in Feb change to other meds like Victozia or other similar meds, Surgery to help aid weight loss, really struggling with my weight at the moment and he would be happy for me to loose just 10 kilos, I still would be overweight.

I mentioned my favourite topic with diabetes what some see as a taboo topic Insulin, he was a bit surprised that I made the request to go onto mdi insulin system. He listened and said he would not rule the option out, but he did not get people requesting to switch over to insulin.

Just got to hang in until Feb to see what the future brings.

At last I may have found a doctor who knows about diabetes and diabetic care 🙂

Sounds positive.
I am not totally surprised he does not get patients requesting to go on Insulin. I think people on here are not representative of the general population.

Well it's still seen as a threat, cause the diabetes that needs insulin is dangerous - it can kill you! People still fool themselves that T1 is a more 'serious' condition than T2.

I hope you get the move onto insulin pav, gliclizide hasn't worked for you in the past (or at least, it has brought you problems with unpredictability ) I've heard of people in the past who have said 'Ooh no, I'd never go onto insulin', but if that's what works for you, then that's what you need! 🙂 Victoza does work well for some people, so may be an option, but it also carries side effects. We hear far less about the lizard spit injectables like Victoza, Byetta, Bydureon on the forum these days, not sure why.

Wish the so called professionals would agree with us, think it's 4 years plus I have been fighting for it, though now totally lost track of the time span I been trying, always seems to be one step forward to get ones hopes up then get knocked back and it's start again. New doc / DN who in the recent past don't have a clue about diabetics and the quirkyness that we face.

Not seen any posts recently about these meds either, I wonder if docs have given up on prescribing them maybe due to cost or because of side effects. When I was talking to the doc about them he added that Victyozia also acts as a appetite suppressor which would be great for me, as if it does help with my levels and appetite, could be worth a try. Though still would prefer to have insulin as fed up with all the back and forth over the years with my general health deteriorating as well.
