good evening all

My Hbac1 at diagnosis was 86 and today I got my results after 3 months of Low carbs, high fat and exercise..lost 1 stone.. It was 61! My cholesterol has dropped from 5.5 to 3.5 after taking 20mg statin for 6 weeks.

I defo feel like everything is moving in the right direction. I’ve got a medication review next week and the DN nurse said she may have to recommend another medication as I am rarely under 10 first thing in the morning (2000mg SR metformin)

I’m reluctant to add in other medication as I hear that some can often increase weight when I’m trying so hard to battle losing it.
Does anybody recommend anything that has worked for them?

No advice I’m afraid I just wanted to say well done

Metformin helps with weight loss, I think. @mikeyB is the one who will know. Great results though!

Sounds a very good result.
I was similar, I had no problem accepting medication prescribed, I worked closely with ny HCP, lost a lot of weight on a low fat diet, I was taken off the second med, then eventually, after doing the Newcastle diet as well, I reversed my diabetes after losing 5 stone, and am med free.
I eat a healthy, sensible diet now, and that's about it.

That is amazing news, well done you! Ideally I would love to lose another 2.5 stone. What is the Newcastle diet? Not brown ale I hope lol x

Well done! 🙂 What levels are you going to bed on and are you testing immediately on waking? Levels can begin to rise very quickly in that first 5 minutes or so after getting up and about, so ideally you need to know how your waking number compares to your bedtime figure.

It would depend on what medication the nurse recommends, some can further aid weight reduction, although their principal purpose is to reduce blood sugar levels. Keep concentrating on getting your levels under control and the weight loss will come 🙂

I’m testing in the 7s and 8 before bed and on waking it’s generally between 10.5-11.2. I have a small piece of cheese or a boiled egg and I’m back down in to 7 or 8 before lunch. Thanks for the encouragement
