Update: with my holidays and GP's holidays got to see her this morning. The result is right, it really has stayed the same so I am seriously impressed with myself!! She said it will be the weight loss. When I was whinging that "normal" was not a good response and did that mean I no longer had diabetes, she said more or less but you are only normal because you are taking the metformin, watching your diet, etc etc and really it should be described as under control.

Good visit. Hopefully the next result will have the levels posted onto the computer and a generic "normal" will not be used.

I have relaxed so much I really thought the reading would go up. Problem is, with my holidays, I have put on weight so I should not congratulate myself for too long!! Back to plan methinks.

What a result!!! I'm glad it's all sorted now and you really did have a hbA1C of 5.6. I've read this thread for the first time today. I makes me wonder whether I should ask the GP about my thyroid results, as I've had the same response from the receptionist, the result is "normal". But if it's borderline I might be better off with a slightly higher dose.

Ah, I went through exactly the same thing with my thyroid levels. Eventually I went on a website, think it is thyroiduk or similar, printed out load of bumpf and when my doctor saw it, she just said "what do you want?"! Upped the meds and my problems fell away. Each time I went for a test before that I thought they would find the levels were wrong and correct them and be disappointed when they said "normal". This website said there is a big range in "normal".

Go for it. You will be tested again after a few months to make sure it has not gone the other way but you will be used to testing anyway. No big deal.

Hi Marg welcome back did you have a good hol?
Pleased you now finally have conclusions to your results x

Hi Steff, yes the holiday was very restful - but I am now back at work so in need of another!!!

Went to Ireland and although it rained (of course) I never got caught out in it so that was a result.

LOL last time I went to Ireland to see family all it did was rain.

Just booked to see my nurse after my hba1c that i need to do first - I have only just got used to the numbers, now relearn them - ah well !
Can someone remind me please , do I have to have a starvation blood test ? I think not but I just would like to check - thanks 🙂

Well Ann the short answer is no,but we discussed this just the other day I was told to fast for my hbA so it depends on your nurse/GP I guess.

Thanks , sorry , I missed the previous discussion !

How's it going Marge ? Dreadful treatment , although nice to know you are normal - I don't get told that often !! 😛

Thanks Marg. I'll have a look at that website.

I've got a GP appointment on Friday anyway, so I will ask her about the result, only had the test last May. I hate having blood taken. My veins hide. It's rarely straightforward with me. Last time the nurse took 4 attempts to withdraw blood😱

Marg, well done you! That is great news. Can I ask you how much Met you are still on.

Donna

Thyroid results get up my nose. They reckon 3 to something is 'normal' but talking to quite a lot of longstanding hypothyrodics if thats the word, most of em reckon they need to be under 3 to feel anything like and in one partic case - under 1 !! Mine had been gradually creeping up and I'd asked and asked about it, no no your fine.

Then in Feb I was so suprised my diabetic consultant offerred me a pump I never even asked for my test results and so it just happened when I happened to go and see a random GP at my surgery the next week about my foot, (now sorted) I had to ask for all my test results which he gave me. Thyroid had shot up to 9. summat, ooh says he, looks like your tablets need upping! HAH ! - so he prescribed a minute dose - 25 - and back in a month for another blood test. 3. summat again.

Yesterday was the first one I've had done since then so I'm very interested to say the least.

Interestingly just after the second one I saw the lady GP I see re my female ailments (Yup that's right - one for my depression and my warts, another for my post menopausal concerns and yet another re diabetes .... grrrrr - I'd like to see one who knew all about me!) and she glibly says re the 'latest' 3. one - Oh, looks like you need a top-up there! But I explained it was only about 5 weeks since the tablets, which was a brill result - so it was left.

My hair doesn't fall out any more than it ever did although my legs went bald years and years ago, I put it down to the money I'd been investing for years in hot waxing treatments at the salon - but who knows? and yes I've put weight on, but then I lost shedloads during my depression when I almost stopped eating. A kilo a week at its worst ... so I needed to gain a bit and I have. Anyway I'm absolutely frozen again this week, I nearly always am, so I quite expect my latest thyroid test to say "HI" like my meter would LOL

I'll be severely cross if it doesn't - cos I'm fed up of being this cold !

Sorry Marg about hijacking your thread😱

I've had bald legs forever, I do have a few straggly hairs on each side of the leg, but I've never needed to shave or anything like that. Being blond makes the stragglers almost invisible. I didn't realise that this could be because of hypothyroidism😱 I just thought I was very lucky 😛
