i've got my first comparative Hba1c tomorrow (wont get the results till my appointment with nurse on Monday though) but am gonna have the biggest tub of ice cream ever after my test. and not vanillia, it'll be some kind of double choc, caramel and choc sauce version 🙂

then i'll be good for the next 59 days again

sounds a good plan and we all need treats sometimes.

sounds good to me hope test results are good for you

7.3 🙂 from 10.5 😱

was better than I was expecting, was actually feeling rather down today and I think it’s because I was expecting a let down on how much (if any) improvement

but dsn was very happy, actually waiting in hallway for me and said its best drop from first hba1c to second (done at 6 weeks) that she'd ever seen !!

I actually nearly cried !! 🙄

I’d gone there determined to just get my result and not talk too much, because we differ massively on some opinions on how to treat type 2, non insulin diabetes. but that result thawed me a bit.

Dsn still insisted (twice) that I will be on metformin for life and that I don’t need to test as often as I have been (have to pay for all strips myself now) and that I certainly shouldn’t bother testing after food (actually said it was a waste, how I don’t know, coz I do actually need to eat!)

But she kept saying "whatever it is your doing, keep doing it" and because I was now in such a good mood I didn’t point out that mostly what I’m doing is ignoring the nhs script on treating type 2 non insulin diabetes 😛

It's hardly worth testing after a whole tub of choc ice cream or does it not affect you?:D

Well I wouldn't bother testing after that myself - no meter currently on the market goes high enough, so you are absolutely correct, there is no point.

I mourn the passing of Safeway's Pecan Nut and Butterscotch flavour. Come back, all is forgiven ..... In those days I'm afraid I used to go to the freezer to get eg a bag of peas out, armed with a spoon ....... actually they probably had to take it off the market as a H&S issue !

Fantastic result Claire, well done and you should be very proud of yourself. 🙂

Thank you 🙂 am happy,
might stick at the being a 'good' diabetic lark a little longer 🙂

will also make dsn eat her prescriptions when i get off the metformin :D
