Hba1c confusion

Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I've been having high numbers, picked up because I did 2 weeks with a Libre 2. Was between 9-12 most of the time.
Diabetic nurse did hba1c before adjusting my meds and it's come back at 44.
This is higher than I like it, but I know deemed fine by NHS.
I don't know what to do as it's unlikely she will increase my meds at that number, but I'm struggling to find things to eat and keep levels down (I already do keto).
Any thoughts as to why my hba1c isn't reflecting my blood glucose? Or idea on how to persuade nurse to add in meds would be really appreciated.

How long have you been tracking BG with the Libre 2 for? Can you do finger prick tests to double check the Libre?
Don't forget that the HbA1c is a sort of average over 3 months.
 
Might you possibly be anaemic? That can make HbA1c results inaccurate.
 
Could you really be LADA ? (Latent Auto-immune Diabetes of Adults, which often manifests as Type 2 and may even respond to Type 2 medications to begin with, and then stops responding to them when you become 100% reliant on injected insulin, and behaves exactly the same way as Type 1)

What definitive tests have you had to prove you are Type 2 - eg C-peptide or GAD antibodies? (both 'armful of blood' tests, not either fingerpricks or HbA1c tests)

It is very worth asking your doc about LADA.
