Last weekend I stayed at a friends house, she's already been really curious about my D and as I was about to inject my Lantus she asked if she could do it..

I went very red and quiet quite quickly as I've never had another person inject me, even at the hospital when I was diagnosed. Had a go injecting a squeaky penguin with water then went straight on to injecting myself.

She understood and I let her press the plunger to inject a couple of units 😛

Just wondered if anyone else has extremely curious friends too? And also what would you have done?

I'm type 2 on pills so don't inject.

I find people ask loads of questions and a few then produce a big box of sweets or biscuits much to the ammusment of some and the anger of others...

Not freinds no but my MIL once wanted to see me inject it was ever so hard as i felt under pressure, im nervous enough doing it on my own,but i like to be nice and sorted her curiosity 🙄

Never had a friend or oh want to watch me inject and if they asked to help I would run a mile. I hate anyone else giving me any type of injection

I'd probably let my partner inject me if he really wanted to, but he knows it would be pointless (pardon the pun), as I can do it myself better, having been injecting other people since I started nursing in 1985 and myself since diagnosis in 1996. I have also injected cats, starfish and cattle for various reasons (vet asked us not to bring one cat to surgery as he made so much noise he frightened the dogs in the waiting room, to make starfish spawn and cattle at park where I work and they graze meadows). However, I would let him have a clean needle attached to a pen with cartridge removed so he could feel what an injection feels like, although without any fluid going in, although as I never inject more than 16 units (long acting) at once, I barely feel it go in. He's good about never commenting when I inject eg if he walks into kitchen as I'm facing the cupboard where I keep my indoors pen kit. It's nearly always because I've just called him to tell him dinner's on the table.

My OH doesn't notice me injecting to the extent that he got it into his head that I had stopped. I wasn't impressed what if he had to tell someone what meds I was on and I was unable.

I have a friend who is a bit squeamish about injections - but we have been out and she is happy that I inject under the table - where out of sight is out of mind. Haven't had anyone offer to inject for me though.

This may be just me (I am a little precious about being injected in any way shape or form since having D) but I think I'd be a little offended? I certainly wouldnt say yes! Im always more than happy to explain everything to any one that asks and never hide what i have to do, but i think id feel like that was a step to far.

I might give them a new needle and tell them that they are welcome to stick it in their own leg if theyre curious :D

No, I wouldn't mind someone watching, but don't see the point of them giving an injection unless it was to themselves with saline or something - what could they learn from it except how to push a plunger?

The only person i trust to inject me is my husband , and he has done on many occasions , when ive been ill , during labour etc 🙂

I once let my friend give me my jab, it was soon after a severe hypo when I'd needed someone to inject glucogen (or however you spell it!) for me so it seemed a good idea at the time just to get him used to the thought in case I was ever in need of his help......I dunno -it was fine anyway!

I've let people do it to me. I don't see any harm being as it's just a case of putting it in the right place and pressing the plunger! Some people have a morbid curiosity which I'm happy to satisfy. I just don't see any fuss in it 🙂

I'm not on insulin yet...😡

I let the other half do the blood glucose tests for me sometimes.

Thought I'd better mention the potential risk of friend / relative suffering a "sharp injury" if they accidently stab themselves after injecting someone else. I'd be far more careful with a needle after I've injected someone else than after I've injected myself, although obvious I keep used sharps where no-one else can get hold of them.

Strange request but I couldn't let someone inject me and would politely turn down the request, I'm struggling to see why they wanted to do this:confused:

When I was diagnosed and admitted into hospital we practised injection techniques using a orange.

No indeedy! Nuh-uh!!

I wouldn't let anyone inject me unless I was somehow incapacitated. Well, I might let the OH do it because I trust him, but no-one else. One of my mates wanted to watch what I did in order to understand it better, but she didn't ask to jab me. I had no problem with that.

I had a squeaky panda to practice on.

My 5 year old Brother has always shown a lot of interest, he asks if he can help and once or twice I've held the pen and he pushes the plunger. He's fascinated by the whole process and often asks if I've checked my "sugar pressure" today, bless him 😱

My ex boyfriend injected me a few times. My mates always ask me if they can do their sugars though, that's the main interest. It's like 'there's no point, Id put money on your levels being between 4 and 7'.

Haha my friend Amy did hers at the last forum meet and got a result of 4, her response was "😱 do I need a jelly baby?"

:D
