Hello, I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong as I was diagnosed a couple of months ago, bs was in the 30's, for the last few weeks I am in the range of 4-8. I am still eating most things just in moderation.. I use basel insulin (10 units twice a day) and take metformin 3 times a day (500mg) Am I doing okay, I feel really great, better than I have in months, just hoping I am managing my type 2 correctly. I still test on waking up, before meals and 2 hours after eating just to be sure.

It sounds good nos to me Jakie. Keep doing what you are doing & Welcome 😎

If you are happy taking insulin and Metformin and it doesn't cause you any problems, then you should be fine.
Personally a normal diet causes weight gain - has all my adult life, and the same diet which controls my weight also controls my diabetes without problems, so it is a bit of a no brainer for me.

Sounds like you're doing a great job. Keep it up. Happy new year. X

Sounds like you're doing amazingly well, @jackie-d, and you deserve to feel chuffed - have a great new year 🙂

You have clearly worked hard to get your meds/diet right in such a short space of time.

What has your DN said about your diet/meds. When I was diagnosed I was high (18 ish) so I was started on just metformin twice a day. My DN view was I would need more medication intervention over the coming months but I took advice from this forum and severely restricted my carbs to control my BG. Just over 12 months in and my BG is stable and I'm on just one tablet of Metformin a day. I would like to say I eat/drink most things in moderation but I don't. I love lager but I have excluded from my diet in favour of wine. I love apple crumble and custard but again it's gone. I allow myself just 1 biscuit or small chocolate a day, but not everyday. I no longer drink fruit juice or eat pasta/pizza as a meal - I might have a small piece as a taster!! I have the odd ice-cream if soy based or made on premises at local ice-cream parlour as testing has told me I tolerate if I've had a virtually zero carb meal like cheese/chicken salad.
