Hi Ann, Nice to see you back but sorry to hear you are feeling low. How are things treating you diabetes and family wise? If you want to talk please post or pm me, we are all here to give you hugs x

Thanks, I take my meds religiously but I fall off the good eating pattern when I see ice cream. I go on a lovely walk across town to a park and must walk about 2 miles but there is an ice cream parlour ... Just sitting there and I think, why not?
I have some depressing issues at home too , so as well as my eyes being a worry ( a recall eye test next week) and my feet - which as well as feeling weird i now find I have arthritis in one.
I don't speak to my step daughter 24 , who lives here. I don't feel very treasured so, apart from that , life is wonderful .

Sorry, moan over, for now.

I'm sorry to hear things have not improved at home :( You know you have many friends here Ann 🙂 I hope all goes well with the eye test - I've been referred to the eye hospital and had two appointments there but no action needed, hope the same is true for you 🙂

It sounds like life is getting you down a bit, sorry xx Sorry to hear about your eyes, I hope the test next week is better than you are expecting. Have you see your daughters recently? I'm sure they would pick you up if you visit, they sound lovely. I guess your hubby is still not listening to you when it comes to his daughter?

Going to see my elder daughter in a couple of weeks. She is gay and has just moved in with her partner who has told me privately she is going to propose . I am so thrilled, she is lovely and she has asked me to help her choose a ring when I go up north for a few days. She has taken the day off to go shopping with me 🙂
So, yes I must focus on this 🙂

No, my husband hasn't , and won't do anything about his daughter. I dread Christmas when another 2 step children come ( they don't like me either) -perhaps they are telling me something here .

Last year I went to my daughter and spent it with my mother ( Alzheimer's) but not with husband who stays with his family .

My life is just a mess.

Its lovely that you daughter is planning to propose 🙂 A big congratulations and I hope they will be very happy xx Christmas is still a long way off but perhaps you could visit your family again or plan a holiday with your family?

Ann, Just thought that if you ever come my way you are welcome to stop for a cup of tea or lunch and a chat any time just let me know so I can tell you where I live 🙂

I take my Insulin everyday...same amount, same time...But, I stopped testing my Blood Sugars a long time ago now...Can't remember when I last tested actually?...The health professions have given up on me so, well, why should'nt I?...Afterall, they know best, they know I have complicated health issues that make my Diabetes difficult to manage, so whats the point in testing, I know my Blood sugars will be high anyway!!

My mobility has become more difficult, my muscles consistantly contract and go into spasm...I can't even dress myself in the mornings without help from my partner to put my underwear on!!!...how great is that!!...I can barely walk at all now, the pain in my back, legs is so painful....and, well, to top it all, my Son Danni, he is having his third Crohns flare in just 8 months!!!

I have lost faith in life and certainly in the health care system....if it wasn't for my son Danni, well, I would be glad not to be here...I can not see my life improving...believ me, it's not just the poain that gets you down, it's how it makes you feel inside, it's the dignity and independence it strips you of.

The worst is, I am finding it difficult not to feel bitter now, I see my son, my beautiful, gentle scared son, who has never hurt anyone in his life, so so afraid of life and people...and so heartbreakingly lonely at just 19...if there is a God, well...he ain't here that's for sure!!!

Hi Ellowyne, I'm so sorry to hear about you and you son having such a difficult time at the moment, please don't give up. My Mum has Crohns and I remember what it was like to begin with, just horrible to watch her go through that. I know for my Mum that things did improve when they found the right meds and it only flares up now when she is very stressed or down about something. I hope this will be the case for your son too, how long has he had it? Is there a forum like this one that he can join to meet others with Crohns?

Thanks Natalie 🙂

Thanks guys. I saw my GP this morning and was honesr with him THAT WAS HARD. As part of the referal process to BEAT you have to have a load of blood tests which hes booked for wednesday The first group i know and understand the second i dont and wondered if anyone else had an idea what they are/mean
1)
HabAIC
Fasting glucose
Thyroid profile

2)
Blood count
liver function
bone group
urea/electrolytes
CRP
Ferritin
B12 & serum folate

the only ones on that second list I recognise are:

The blood count: How many red bloood cells you have (pointer for anaemia which I have) and what the white blood cells are up to, a high white cell count might indicate an infection.

Liver function: Tests how well your liver is doing, and

B12, which looks at how your body is using the vitamin B12. B12 deficiency is quite common in diabetics I'm told, but is often accompanied by changes in skin pigmentation.

2)
Blood count
liver function
bone group
urea/electrolytes
CRP
Ferritin
B12 & serum folate

Blood count - checks for anaemia
Liver function - does what it says on the tin 🙂
Ferritin - checks your iron stores
B12 - checks vitamin levels, they're linked to iron/energy reserves
Serum folate - folate is another one linked to iron/anaemia but not sure exactly what.

To be honest the whole lot looks like what turns up on my bloods form when I go to the hospital clinic every 6 months or so.
