Relationship to Diabetes

My sister has been for an ?endoscopic? examination on Tuesday -- after 2 days fasting her stomach was so full of food that they sent her away and told to come back on Friday -- my mother says she was told it was all down to 'sugar diabetes' !! (I am never sure of any fact in what my mother says now)

My sister was told she is diabetic a year ago. (my mother seemed pleased that we had something in common!!?)

I had a friend who died due to to blood flow to the bowl reducing due to being a long term smoker - |I was wondering if this had more in common to that

Could be a number of reasons I think so impossible to speculate. Diabetes can cause a condition called gastroparesis where the stomach can empty very slowly, so if they've suggested it is due to her diabetes then it could be this. But there are a number of problems that can happen to the bowels. I hope that she gets a firm diagnosis soon so that she can get appropriate treatment.

I know that diabetics are more more prone to gastroparesis (delayed emptying of the stomach), something I have problems with myself. Could it be something to do with that? I have thrown up food before that I'd eaten days ago (sorry if TMI).

Hi I have gastroparesis as well and before operations usually fast for 36 hours and that is when I am also taking medication four times a day to help with the gastroparesis (erythromycin and domperidone). She really needs to find out why her stomach isn't emptying so that she can get the right treatment.
