I have just been given this insulin to take once a day not taking it until i know something about it has anyone any experience?

Tresiba is meant to have a 36 hour long activity profile and I believe was designed with T2s in mind to help with issues with insulin resistance. It is supposed to be very stable without any distinct peaks in it's profile. I did try it briefly but it didn't behave like this for me, but I'm not a good one to judge as I haven't got on with any of the basal insulins out there and am ditching them entirely soon in favour of a pump lol 🙂

What are you wanting you to know? 🙂
@Lucy Honeychurch cheers for the tag 🙂 xx

I used it. I found it very good with a flat long profile although it didn't really suit my requirements at the time and I went back to split Levemir doses. Takes a bit longer for any dose changes to have effect compared to Levemir as well.

It wasn't designed for T2 or insulin resistance (I think you're confusing it with one of the concentrated ones - Toujeo?) in fact it's quite expensive so is normally only prescribed by consultants which would mean T1's only.

I use it and like it a lot better than Lantus, which I was on before! It has a much flatter profile so I have fewer unexpected spikes and plummets (I still have more than most people, but that's me, not the Tresiba). It's good if you get roughly the same amount of exercise every day, but if not (eg if you do cycling or marathon running at the weekends but not during the week) then it's not suitable.
There are quite a few other threads about it, if you search the forum you should find some 🙂

You might find it helps 🙂

I have been using it for 3 years, reasonably happy with it but my Diabetes fluctuates terribly and always has. More stable than any previous insulin. All the best.

I'm Type1 and began using it last year.

Once a day (I take mine before my evening meal) but there is leeway as long as you don't take it too soon to your last one, or too far apart.

I was told it was a "drip feed" effect that almost replicated the production of a "normal" pancreas.

Overnight scores have been mixed. I seem to go through phases of 2 weeks good and 2 weeks not so good. A friend with a Type 1 daughter puts this down to bio-rhythms. I increased by 2 units, and that helped get my scores down.

It's a good system to be on. A "pen/cartridge" lasts me 7 days which is a good routine.
