Relationship to Diabetes
At risk of diabetes
And what a year it has been.
Firstly things have been going better regarding kidney issues. And many of my medications have been reduced or are being removed altogether.

I was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic. And yet I seem to be doing okay regarding what I eat and how I eat. My kidney specialist arranged an extra test of my bloods which also included another regarding diabetes and so far nothing bad has been flagged up.

I lost four stone in weight and I have managed to keep it off.

Because of the pre-diabetic diagnosis I now have regular checkups with a podiatrist. She noticed that I have difficulty walking because I have one leg shorter than the other and she asked about why I had never had a physiotherapist.

We have no answer to that but it has resulted in me now being seen by the hospital who are helping with my mobility by making me shoes to help correct my unsteady gate.

I had a fall just before Christmas and smacked my head on tarmac and was checked out at an Acute Hospital Unit. That turned out better than it could have but on the other hand I had to travel to the hospital late at night using a limited bus service there and back home.

I smashed my glasses and ended up with a black eye which is still healing. On the other hand it pushed me to get an eye test done which I had earlier today. And I had the more advanced eye test carried out and there are more positives than negatives.

So I am awaiting new glasses but again the good news is there is no sign of any problems with my eyes being caused by diabetes.

And in approximately two weeks time I will be talking with my kidney specialist to see how my latest bloods are.

So in general a not so good year has ended very well and the future looks as though it is going to be better.

Therefore I wish everybody a safer and happier New Year and that anything frightening turns out better than expected.

Take Care,
Gildy x
