Hello @Edwin Wine and welcome to our forum.

Whow! those are amazing results and sustained over a long time as well.
Thank you for sharing this, I'm sure this will be inspirational to many people and show what can be achieved.

Thanks. I have a nephew who is a medic. When I told him he said. Diet and excercise will sort it out 8f it's T2
Unfortunately, medic or not, that isn't always the case and many Type 2's end up insulin dependant, not through any fault of their own but I know many that might be a bit upset shall we say that the suggestion is that they might have failed

Welcome to the forum Edwin, from a fellow T2.

And a welcome from me as well. Tremendous record and shows what can be done if you work out a plan and then stick to it.

With respect to your nephew's comment - its can be read several ways and if you read around the forum you will find that a lack of precision is not uncommon when the medics talk about diabetes. It comes from only having two boxes to put people in, T1 or T2. Anybody who does not fit clearly in the T1 box is given the T2 label without really trying to find out exactly why their system does not control the blood glucose level.

Remission or possibility of is a relatively new concept and there does not appear to a standard definition, some prefer to us the term controlled. The research is still in the early days. It is also believed by some research that it is not one condtion but a spectrum of conditions that all need differnt approaches.

Welcome to the forum @Edwin Wine

Look forward to hearing more of your story in the coming weeks.

Congratulations on your decade of well-managed diabetes 🙂

The DIRECT trial defines remission (I think!) as an HbA1c of 48 or lower with no medication.

Something which a number of members here have been able to achieve over the years with the help of a BG-meter-optimised approach to eating, and which many more have managed with the support of various meds. 🙂
