Got a whole battery of tests done, I thought I was just going for a quick blood test yesterday!

Feet - numb toes so been referred to podiatrist and told to buy some better slippers - suggestions gratefully received as I’ve only ever work those fleecy fluffy things with the dots on the bottom.

+1 protein in wee so that’s gone off to check for infection.

BP tad high, but I’d forgotten to take my meds, and I suffer from white coat syndrome. You’d think I’d be used to them by now, but I still hate hospitals and surgeries.

Just to wait for bloods result, they’ve done thyroid and cholesterol too, last cholesterols was 3.2 back in 2012, and I’m hoping it’s similar still.

Oh and she made me take my toe ring off :(

I nearly jump off the chair when I get my feet tested. I used to spend hours in the North Sea. Salt water was good for you :D

Did they use a tuning fork? Weird or what, and nope couldn’t feel it.

Ooh I have just that, it’s good for restless legs too, apparently. Might start taking a glass to bed with me.

Tickling stick lol, weird thing.

It’s good to hear you have been referred to the nhs podiatrist, they are great ! They have saved a couple of my toes since I’ve been with them , Umm unlike nursie they don’t like us wearing slippers as we won’ feel anything that pokes through the slipper or sole and causes injury or when we stub our toes . I am guessing they will tell you to let them cut your toenails and they will also give you a terrific foot tickling session. God forbid but if you should have any foot problems or injury in the future if possible make them your first port of call.

As for slippers, , if you feet swell up Cosy feet slippers are good choice, they’re available on line, however they are dear but mine last well.
In the past I wore Crocs they aren’t cheap either but do give feet more protection.

I can’t feel the tuning fork or the or the filament thingy.

Oh I might stick to socks then, I hate slippers and I’ll trust a podiatrist’s POV over my DSN any day, she’s not the most up to date person (by about 20 years). Thank you Lin.

Sorry but just wearing socks are not a good idea as no protection at all

Cosy feet slippers it is then, thanks lovely!

I wear those toastie socks, they have a protective sole cover.
Sorry but with severe Neuropathy like Madeline and I have they are not suitable as they don’t give our feet enough protection from injury.
I do like them them though.

I was a bit shocked at the feet damage. I don’t really understand how, my BG has been regularly tested for years - every hospital admission they’d test, and I was in monthly for over a year. It’s never been an issue until late autumn last year, but by then I’d got loads of symptoms of damage - I’ve got gustatory sweating too, which I’d put down to being peri menopausal

I've got numb-ish toes as well - but I've had them since before I was diabetic, although now I've got to be doubly careful of them of course. I completely failed the tuning fork test, but if she'd stabbed me with a piece of lego, I'd have felt that alright!

Hope all will be ok for you.
I worry about my mum's circulation as she isn't very mobile - mostly wheelchair now and they're having trouble finding the pulse in her feet now, one is better than the other. But they're having to use the Doppler at times now.

Madeline I can't find your post re ice cream but wanted to say in the good old days I adored Waitrose 1 coffee ice cream. Might try the vanilla option... but after the 6 month review. I wish they were in a small tub size!

Thank you lovely. Your poor mum, feet are such a worry x

The coffee and pistachio ones are my favourites, they tried to give us Hagen Daas vanilla instead. How can you compare?😱

Had my BP rechecked today, and all fine. Bumped into GP on way out, and he made a point of asking if I had everything I needed. I reckon that there’s a gagging order on pharmacists and doctors etc.

Coffee my favourite, although the vanilla is also yum ...
