For the last 3 months my Mum has been in out of hospital 5 times and in between those times Mum has also been in a care home whilst her strenght built up it all sorted with a nasty water infection and she seems to have had every illness going since poor thing......things are now starting to stabalise and she has now just got back to her home with the help of carers and family.

It has been a really tough time and unfortunately I have been unable to give much thought to Diabetes and Diet.......silly I know. I have been trying to keep up with the exercise side but not been as good I would of liked due to lack of free time. I have also had the added stress of the office I work has now relocated 50 miles away so from Monday I will be working from home. Now I am working from home I have decided that its time to put this to my advantage and each morning before I start work I am going to go on my exercise bike for half an hour and each lunchtime I will walk round the block (only about a 20 minute walk) but better than nothing and will get me away from my desk for a bit.

Now I am looking for advice from fellow dieters. I am thinking about joining a slimming club to help me get back the Diet and Diabetes on track. Which slimming club diet fits in best with Diabetes ............Weight Watchers or Slimming World?

Hi Sheilagh it sound like you have had a tough three months. I hope things start to improve now that your Mum in on the mend and you can work from home. I hope working for home works for you - I think some people take to it naturally but for some it can be difficult some times to leave the work to one side when its there calling to you.

Good luck with the exercise and getting things back on track.

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles your Mum has been through Sheilagh - glad to hear she is back home now. It sounds very muh like what my sister went through with our Mum a few years ago - I live too far away to have been of much help back then. Hope your Mum quickly regains her strength 🙂

Good for you for making plans to focus more on your health - perfectly normal that all this has meant you could not give it the attention you normally would. I think it is a great plan to use what would have been commuting time as exercise time! Regular exercise like this will really help get you ready for the day and really help with your insulin sensitivity too! Keep that determination to stick to your plan and call on us whenever/if ever you waver! 🙂

Welcome back Sheilagh

Re working from home - hope it suits you. I've never done it full time, but have done periods of data entry and analysis at home, as I and my employer realised that it was more efficient. In fact, I'm currently data entering a visitor survey questionnaire, which is pretty boring, but once it's all entered, the analysis and report writing should be more interesing. Easiest for me to do an hour of so twice a day, and keep note of hours to submit a pay claim.

Re slimming clubs - worth looking at posts in The Weight Loss Group section for opinions of various clubs. I'd also add that the local club leader and convenience of meeting times & locations also need consideration, as well as the diet itself.
