I think this says it all.
Gymnema sylvestre should be avoided in children, in pregnant or breastfeeding people, and before surgery due to the lack of safety research. The supplement may cause hypoglycemia in some people and should not be used in people with diabetes unless under the supervision of a doctor.28 Feb 2023
