Yes, it's time for our favourite game again! Results to come on Wednesday.

Background info to help you guess:
  • Diagnosed in September at 12.0% (108 in new money) 😱
  • Didn't self-test in the first 7 weeks: was pretty good as far as sugar goes, but now know I was having too much starch.
  • Since the start of November have been testing waking BG daily and have an average of 7.9 - but only over 8 three times (none over 8.4) in the last 3 weeks.

My DSN said I'd be doing well to be under 100 (11.2%). Don't know if she was trying to take pressure off me or just be rude 🙄

With a waking of 8% I'm going to be optimistic and go for a HbA1c of 9.9% - I'm betting that you can get into single figures. Good luck!

I'll say 9.5. Best of luck Gary! Katie🙂

I'm going for 9.0% - best of luck Gary!! 🙂

Good luck Gary... Amanda x🙂

Thanks Amanda and everyone, especially those who predicted me in the 8s 🙂, and very pleased that so far no-one's put me in the 10s (seriously, I would cry buckets, I'm certain I've been better than that).

Though of course only one number really matters. I'm genuinely more intrigued by that than what presents I'll get. 😱

Do what I did - after your appointment have a little cry - I returned from my DN appointment a few weeks ago and felt really down; not because I was given bad news quite the contrary but because it was a relieve to get it over with for another 3 months.. 🙄 Good Luck xx

Well, the results are in and the winner is Northerner, though in a very real sense I win 😛 because the actual number was 7.8 :D

Just as good, my cholesterol has come down from 7.1 to 4.5 :D

I actually punched the air as I walked out of the surgery 😱

Fantastic!!!!! Brilliant news Gary! So pleased for you! :D

That's excellent Gary 🙂

I'm very happy that I was very wrong!

Very pleased but keen not to lose sight of the fact that a lot of people are diagnosed with lower levels than that, so there's plenty of work still to do!

My target now is to get under 7 in March.

That's a great result Gary. getting all the numbers down. Pleased for you

G

Many congratulations Gary!! Great news :D
