We grew up with BSA air rifles and bicycle seats. Neither of those would make me drink a veggie smoothie but the threat of riding a BSA motor 'bike' - now that would get me drinking from the nutri-slug.

Nothing new there, Shivles, that's just the Atkins diet with new age bells on. The Atkins diet is essentially the same as LCHF.

Just pointing out that you don't actually need any greens at all, less veg more steak is best imo 😉

I love all greens but some of them don't love me. I've had to give up completely on spinach. It sends me to the loo in five minutes flat and as for brussel sprouts, don't come near me for a few hours!

Brussels sprouts as a first and pea pods as a very close second are the finest foods nature ever bestowed upon us. I could and have before now gladly eaten so many that my head turned green and I sprouted leaves out of my, out of my, out of my...............ears. Ha ha bet that got you thinking the worst of me :D

Love your replies, still smiling.
Seriously though, I'm going to stop stressing over greens and just eat vegetables with the odd spoonful of mange tout peas as they taste quite nice (in my opinion).
And - seriously - thank you for your replies!

Juiced veg and smoothies are just for folk with no teeth, and an abomination to everybody else with teeth and an undamaged sense of taste.
.
In that case, what's your take on soup? I bet you were raised on ****-a-leekie! 🙂

I love Brussels sprouts and for a Christmas gathering we were having soups and puds. I decided to make Brussels sprout and Stilton soup. Sounded good to me!!! It wasn't. I had made enough for 12 of us. Very little was touched at all (there were two others available and they were lovely). We froze it and added bits to other soups or chicken stock, ... However we eventually added it to the compost bin and fed the worms!!

Getting bored with cabbage, broccoli & cauliflower so I tried Collard Greens last night.....

Toss the collard greens in some avocado oil & season then throw them on the grill for a couple of minutes.... Yummy, though a little less oil & salt next time!!!!

Don't think so, they are a staple of southern cooking but we can get them across the states, they are slightly bitter & peppery.
In many ways they are similar to Kale & Spring Greens

Think we call it chard?

I saw an article about collards in my gardening magazine I had not heard of before but the photo did look like spring greens to me! It could be that the agricultural world has renamed!

Collard greens aren't what we call chard, but they are related to all the other brassicas like cabbage and kale. Very rich in iron and B vitamins, zinc and Magnesium, (which is why they are a staple food,) but then most brassicas are. Use them just as you would use Spring greens if you like that slight pepperiness.

You can bet your boots that Waitrose or Sainsburys will latch on to this as the new superfood and put a premium price on it.
