You’re all wimps. I’ve temporarily run out of lancets for those occasions when I use test strips. I just use used insulin pen needles. Get quite a neat little blood drop. 🙂

Ouch! When I've accidentally stuck myself with one of those it has really hurt! Too sharp! 😱 Give me a nice comfortably blunt lancet any day! 😱 🙂

The problem I have with the FastClix is having to depress the plunger on the end to 'fire' the lancer. The older system and the nexus have a a much easier way of 'cocking and firing' the lancer, it is the single use lancets with which I have an issue.
I agree completely, which is why is stick with the multiclix. Thankfully I was given a couple of meters that each came with one so I’ve not had to change.

None of the modern lancets and pricker devices are that bad as anyone who used the Autolet will know - a rusty nail on a stick would would have felt better.

Indeed! 😱 Never had to use one, but they look positively medieval! 😱

got call from docs saying they’re transferring all T1d patients over to this meter and that they have one for me to pick up. They said they’ll change all my lancet/test strip prescriptions once I have used all of mine up. I currently have an accucheck Aviva nano, but does anybody use a GlucoRX? I have never heard of them before? Not sure why Doc is kinda insisting on changing either as I have never used any other kind of meter so a bit apprehensive!

TIA
If I may suggest that anyone who is getting this issued to you get a spare when you visit your medic that way if for whatever reason you lose one you can check your blood sugars(sounds stupid but I've found myself searching for the darned thing several hours and having a spare at least enables you to know where another is located and use it if it's needed. Also I'd suggest that you might wish to store your manual folded in half length wise in behind the webbing where you are storing your blood glucose record book in addition I also have added a pen folded within the blood glucose book keeping everything in a single place that way if you need to find the manual to change the date you can have it to hand use a coloured paperclip to place where that item is detailed is something that I tend to do. The device itself is fairly basic but does the job quite well generally I'd advocate the use of rechargeable batteries to provide the power source I've been using these for the past 20 odd years with few problems in all my meters. Initial cost can be high but in the long run they do pay for themselves particularly if you get the charger with the batteries included. As I said earlier it is a bit basic and the method used may not be easy for those who can't hold the strips easily (I will suggest that they might want to buy a set of long tapered pliers to hold the strip to enable them to fit it into the meter that might work for them). The actual drum can be difficult to open it is true (again a knife might possibly be useful to pry open the lid or perhaps use a plastic bag to hold all 50 test strips in it and pull one out as you need them,I generally place the used test strips in another plastic bag and when filled I tape it sealed and dispose of it as general household waste). Hope this information is of use but that is the way I work with this particular item.

I was issued a glucomem meter (Areo 2K) works fine - but then again what can you do wrong with a meter?
but for good points
Also tests keytones
has NFC communication for connection to a mobile phone (shame my phone does not have NFC)
USB interface requires a special cable but this will be supplied free by the Manufacturers if you are in the UK
PC software will run under Linux using wine (as well as on windows obviously)

the software does seem to be geared up for professional use as it allows for the creation of multiple patients.

the only problem I have had is I cocked up the time & date settings & cant find a way to delete the readings made with the wrong date

Hoping that you're able to use your meter without too many problems for me it was largely a monumental foul-up in terms of the way in which GGHB ordered the change if memory serves around 2 months with no recourse to anything else however I always make it a point to get 2 blood glucose meters and that request was met by the sister who dealt with me with no problem so I've got a spare in my room where I can get to it if needed like the Roche meters I was using before they use 2 LR6 batteries (MhHd?) so I bought 2 by 6 packs of rechargeables from a local Maplin and have been using them ever since.By the by if you use your PC/laptop it is probably a good idea to perhaps download the utility to transfer the contents of your tests to your box and that is available from the manufacturers website in Taiwan so far that was only way to get that item. The UK people who were selling this had it on the own web site but the download failed several times when I tried it last November 2017 maybe it's functional by now however. The company is based in Taiwan as I mentioned before though to be on the safe side try to ensure that your firewall and virus scanners are up to date as it is external to the UK/Europe despite this I've been pleasantly surprised with the device with few qualms about it's use.Though if I may suggest that you want to half the manual and store it in the webbed pocket at the front of the device in order to reset the device I generally do this (being a bit of a klutz and losing such items) I also put my test book in front of that with a pen in it to record bloodtest results and times. That covers most of what I've learned to date I hope it may be of use to all. Apologies to all as this is largely the same information done this evening rather than early morning.

I've spent some time on the manufacturers web site but as near as I can see there is no apparent means to access the memory of the device and change the contents (likely doing so will cause software copyright regulators to tear into you financially personally I would have thought that the company manufacturing the device would have a utility to do this but if such does exist it's likely not for users to edit their results!!). So apologies for that by the way you can download the manual in pdf (portable document format) though you'll also need a pdf reader using Win10 I've opted on the Sumatra pdf reader which works well for me however there are a number of freeware pdf viewers available for a wide range of PCs and laptops.
User manual for GlucoMen Aero2K
@ https://www.glucomen.co.uk/areo/
at the foot of the page you will find the following headed as
Product Support
1st column is entitled Customer Support Team the column to the right of that
is the one that you are looking for it is headed Downloads in the following order
top to bottom

User Manual Areo

User Manual Areo with Ketone

Step by Step Guide

Aero Ketone Sensor Insert

NFC QuickLink Guide

Accuracy Performance Data

TUV Certification of ISO Compliance - Areo

TUV Certification of ISO Compliance - Areo 2K

Independent review of GlucoMen Areo accuracy

if you click over the second entry ie User Manual Areo with Ketone then you should
be able to download the pdf to your machine and review it whenever you wish to check
operation of the device assuming that is that you have a pdf reader (for myself I
use the freeware Sumatra pdf reader I use MS Win10 but you can select from a variety of freeware
pdf readers available to you from the likes of Google.co.uk which you should be able to access
failyl readily.

Assuming that you have a pdf reader with your home machine and you are able to download the file
save it to your desktop (sorry again I'm assuming that you're using Win10 that may not be the case
then just save it anyway and review the file 3 Aero with ketones user manual.pdf.
The pertinent information is located on page 5 of the 9 pages section 7 titled Meter setup it's a
trifle complicated but to set Date/Time follow the instructions of 7.1 Date/Time setup which will
give you the necessary detail to perform the settings you need to do,with luck this should solve your
problem. That's about all I can figure I sincerely hope that this provides you with the detail
to 'crack this problem'. As an aside can I suggest that after getting the correct date/time
you note each step in a notepad numbered 1 through n where n is a number greater than 1 then practice
resetting these values which should help you remember how to work the setting of date/time as well
as give you the necessary confidence to use your meter and perhaps explore other features that
you may not yet fully appreciate trust me after around 8 months of using Gluco_Rx meter I'm still
making notes to help me to handle this device. I hope this is of use to you,but as we've said already found there
appears to be no way to remove any tests that are already in memory. Again apologies S.D.S. F

You can get a Bluetooth adaptor for the Gluco Areo meters from Gluomen for free, either ring there c/s or request one via their FB page, if you have set up an online account you can also order the adaptor from there.

I use the app on my phones and it works well. The only problems I have had with the Areo is for some strange reason I went through a period of breaking the screen on the meters. Their c/s were very good and had a replacement meter either next day or the day after depending on the rime I called them. If you only have one meter it is worth asking them for a spare one, like I have the one meter in the house and always carry the second meter when I go out.

didn't know about the bluetooth adaptor but may enquire.
The USB cable is working fine for me, as said previously the down loaded software even runs without issue on Linux using wine (I dont wont have windows at home)
I will definitely ask if I can get a 2nd meter as it seems sensible (forgot to take mine out on day so had to wing it a bit)
