does she have a natural talent for annoying patients...or...has she been to 'Wind Up.Com Charm School'...take Warfarin...started in June 2016...dose has steadily increased from 9mgs to 17mgs...need to have a prescription increase...discussed that a couple of weeks ago with GP...he agreed...put them on repeat...tried to order them Friday...cannot re-order until the 16th of June...won't have enough to last until then...simple...phone surgery...get them to ask GP to authorise them now...suddenly get interrogated...receptionist tells me I had extra last month...which ones did I need...said all of them...'again but you had two packs of 5mgs & 3mgs on the 19th'...'why do you need more'...because I won't have enough to last me until the 19th...and for the first time in a year my INR levels are balanced...want to keep them that way...we went back & forth...wanted to scream '...finally get the message across...FFS about to throw something!

Sorry to say this but Methinks it's time for another complaint.

Unfortunately sometimes the receptionists believe they are qualified to give medical advice...I once rang my GP for advice as my BG was 29ish and had then gone on to just say 'HI', when I called the oh-so-wise receptionist told me not to waste the GPs time and to 'eat a Mars bar, that will sort you out'...needless to say I put a complaint in and she was eventually sacked lol 🙄

Sounds exactly like my first GP, it was as though the receptionists were qualified doctors, had several run ins and complaints put in. Had similar attide from some docs when I was running in the 20's in that it was ok to be that high. :(

Sorry to hear you e had all this hassle again Bubbsie. I was a receptionist in a/e for many years and we were told never to give out any medical advice. All such calls were diverted to nursing staff. I don't know how they are getting away with it!

Sorry to here you having this hassle.
At least at my surgery the receptionist don't deal with repeat prescriptions. I discovered at the last minute last month my anti inflammtories were not available for me to order, the person I spoke to could not have been more helpful and got it sorted for me.

There used to be an absolutely awful, grim faced person at my surgery, who would invariably demand to know why any appointment was needed. She always seemed to take pleasure in announcing that no appointments were available. I have an expressive face, and my informative and, I think, reasonable replies never produced anything more than a grudging response. However, at a recent haematology appointment, everyone was courteous, considerate and helpful.
Unfortunately, although I have no difficulties with the present surgery receptionists (the gorgon having retired to a mythological island in order to devour the unwary), I have a problem with the attitude and assumptions of the current DSN.😱

Lin I despair of them sometimes...what on earth does she think I would do with excess Warfarin?...there's hardly a market for it...tiresome...just tiresome...I was determined not to lose my temper...it was hard work...thanks for those hugs.

I had already spoken to the GP...agreed the increase...just couldn't access it until next month...all she had to do was point that out to him...not ask me what I'd done with the ones I had two weeks ago!...honestly so annoying.

I completely sympathise *hugs* at least you got it through in the end, now you need to try and take a step back, try to forget about it, and mentally prepare for the next time LOL >.< x

Odd BW...our local hospital had an awful reputation...everyone said 'ooh you don't want to go there'...paid it no attention...didn't need to go there...then last June...BOOM...had to go there...been going ever since...been treated with nothing but courtesy...kindness & patience...haven't had a bad appointment there yet...the real problems have been with my GP practice...now although have a better relationship with my GP... after working hard with him....like you they have a very officious DSN...who on a first meeting with me recently told me my testing routine was excessive...won't say what I told her😱😱.

grovesy...come to the conclusion it's all a bot of a lottery really...either we get lucky...or we don't...just energy draining having to battle the receptionist!...hope that knee is improving daily.

Linda it was such a simple request...please tell the GP I cannot order my repeat online...won't let me do that until the middle of the month...I need to have tem this week please...all she had to do was pass on a message...instead got quizzed about the strength I needed...they come in 1mgs...3mgs & 5mgs tablets...how many of this one did I need...I had extra of that one two weeks ago...wanted to scream...luckily I didn't...perhaps I should have asked for some Valium too...just to get me through these phone calls to the practice?

Farcical pav...if they cannot give us the time for what we need...how on earth are we expected to produce the required results...disappointing...unacceptable!

Blimey Bubbsie your surgery do try and test you don't they one thing after another for you 😡
Barbara...they like to keep me busy...just in case I get into any mischief🙄...pain in the backside!

Very much a lottery, my surgery is not perfect but my friend that uses one around the corner from us, had a devil of a a job to get her medications reauthourised recently. I am getting there thanks, I have to remember not to over do.

I gave up in the end and moved practices, the new practice was good to start with but in the end care was random. The last DN was a know it all and one size fits all type, they announced the closure of that practice and moved to a new one that hopefully has good care. though thanks to a good doc at the last practice I am being seen by the hospital diabetic team.

Completely unacceptable behaviour by receptionist. However, I wonder how is your relationship with pharmacy where you collect prescriptions? Pharmacists can often be very proactive in changing medications and / or doses.

There are 2 receptionists at the surgery that I go to 1is ok if you tell her what to do ! The other 1 is a star ,I had an eye problem one Friday morning I rang the surgery to see if I could get to see a GP on Monday morning ,she asked what the problem was with my eyes, said just hang on a minute then said I have arraigned for a GP to see you this afternoon
