I've seen a couple of adverts recently where the previously expensive meters have made significant cuts to their strips e.g. Accu Chek now selling Mobile cassettes for £9.99 per 50 tests and Wavesense Jazz with strips £8.75 for 50. I think these are just NHS prices though, not retail. Finally, some competition? A stronger argument for keeping these particular meters though if you use them - I think the Mobile used to be the most expensive.

When I first saw the mobile I thought it would be ideal for me. I got one to try it and found that for the 50 tests on a cassette, I'd perhaps waste 7-8. That was another reason for keeping my Contour, it gives you a second chance if you mess up the strip.

Yes, a common problem with teh Mobile I believe :( Actually most (if not all) Accuchek meters don't allow you to 'try again' if you don't get enough blood on the first time, unlike my Contour Next! 🙂
