I need an urgent referal to have my gall bladder removed!

No surprise there really, I knew it was coming but still a shock!

He advised me to go online when I get the referal and see who has the shortest waiting list rather than ringing up.

Had a uncomfortable stuffed feeling bloated day again today and not able to eat much 😱

I'll bet it was a shock Di! 😱 I hope you can find an early appointment and get it all sorted very soon so you don;t have to worry about it {{{Di}}}

Hope you get sorted very soon Di so that you can get back to normal. The very best of luck to you and hope all goes well. Katiexx

I will Northy even if I have to go a little further rather than hospital which is 5 mins away, fingers crossed I can get sorted asap, it is really a pain in the bottom and some days really bothers me ggggrrrrrrr.

Gonna still try to run and cycle when I can lol.... Got permission for that. Can't afford to loose my fitness 😱

Thanks Katie & Hobie x

Sorry to say this Di but YEAH!!

So pleased you are getting this sorted asap - it will be the best for you.

Well done in going to GP as quickly as you did too.🙂

Thanks Lucy I know exactly what you mean with yeah!

I'm still on standby to do the A&E Dash if it kicks of before I get sorted and I know it will! The attacks have been every 10 to 14 days! So getting due one..... Maybe the uncomfortable feeling is a sign again x

Sounds a bit of a double edged sword but I would imagine it puts your mind at rest knowing you're being given proper attention.

Good luck when it happens.🙂

Hope you get the referral very soon, Di. It's awful waiting, especially when you feel unwell. Take care.

I had mine out about 6 years ago. Through keyhole surgery. It was a day job. I had to stay in overnight due to my disability. I was fine, 2nd day I was heading off to a garden centre with a friend for coffee.

Sending you all positive vibes, Di. Sooner it's all over the better eh ? - then you can concentrate on feeling better. 🙂

Good luck Di, hope all is well before your op.

Good Luck Di 🙂

I just had mine removed nearly 2 weeks ago by keyhole as even though it wasn't infected or inflammed it still had stones and was uncomfortable pain and I'm still healing at the moment. You will feel so much better even the next day! But don't believe anything you read on the internet about cut out fat or low fat to help as it is a myth -even the surgeons tell you that.

Hope it all gets sorted really quickly Di. You may get the option, if you are able to accept it, to go on the short notice list too - accepting a 24 hour notice slot. If that is acceptable to you, put everyone on standby and say 'Yes Please!'

Re the going to A&E if it flares up again, I appreciate you may need to for some serious pain relief, but they don't usually like to take them out whilst having a flare up, I guess they are more swollen and therefore more difficult to remove and is there possibly more of a potential for them to rupture? Certainly when my mother-in-law's flared up they took her in and put her on a drip, but then sent her home after a couple of days until it calmed down properly and did the op a few weeks later.

I really hope you don't have to wait long though. It will be such a relief to you to get it done. Good luck. Thinking of you.

Tina

Hi Tina,

Mine was definitely flared up and they took me in to operate but it perforated before the op began - so I think it may depend on circumstances?🙂

I wouldn't worry Di that if yours flares up you may get a delay with the op - not necessarily.

No, thing is there is always a danger of pancreatitis if you do get a flare-up in the meantime, hence A&E. There is a specific blood test they have to do, Trypsin is it? - so if you do get that, you could find yourself being kept in and operated on asap as soon as they can get you stable enough TO operate in the first place.

Even pancreatitis, as long as it's Mild Acute and not Severe Acute, they may let you out ONCE but you will be on the 24-hour notice list whether you like it or not. (You'll know it's the Severe sort if you are in the Intensive Care unit .....)

I hope you don't get that, it's unspeakably horrible. Mild or Severe.

Thank you for all the good luck, it means a lot to me. Still waiting for my referal letter.

If they have a 24 hr list will get on it.

Hubby thinks I should stick with our local hospital which is 5 mins away, but I'm not convinced as it is stepping hill and we all know what went on there. If I can gonna see if I can get in the one I go to to see my diabetic consultant.

Just want them to hurry up, I'm so uncomfortable at the moment and not had an attack for two weeks. Fingers crossed i don't have any more 😱

PS Kim I already only eat low fat so no change in diet would help me in the wait unfortunately x

Maybe hubby is thinking of the distance to next hospital? If So Di I am sure you will be in and out within a day and if you feel better at the other hospital I would opt for that and then you won't worry so much. He could just drop you off then and pick you up next day as you will probably sleep a lot and if not take lots of magazines or a good book to catch up on.🙂
