Finally remembered to go and pick it up from the pharmacy - seems I really do need that memory function! 😱

Looks all shiny and new 🙂 Now, have I the patience to wait until I need a new cartridge, or should I take the nearly finished one out of my novopen 3?

Yeah! What colour did you get??

I went for a blue one 🙂 And, no, I couldn't wait so have used it for my lunch today! I used a new cartridge though and will now finish off my old cartridge with the novopen3 before using the Echo again (unless I think I might need to dial a half-unit). Actually, dialling up is something that I am sure will catch me out - never had to dial up halves before so it seemed to be turning forever! A couple of things I didn't realise you could do - turn it back if you overshoot the dose, and see how many units are left when the cartridge is running low 🙂 Battery life is 4-5 years apparently. This actually only the second novopen I've used since diagnosis - I have a spare novopen3 that I've never used, so using the Echo today means it is the first time I have injected novorapid with a different pen. I wonder how many pens I will get through before they become redundant (when they find the cure, of course 😉)

Will be interested to see how you find it Alan. Enjoy your new half-unit precision 🙂

Glad you like it Alan. 🙂

Alan - you can turn the Novopen 3 back, you know? only it's a different technique.

And of course the 4 has always had that capability. Sadly NN say the Novopen 5 (which is the same as the Echo with memory but only whole units) isn't available in UK and have no idea when it will be ...... just like they said about the Echo !

Didn't know that about the 3, but would only have needed it a couple of times - I just squirted it away and restarted. The 5 will be here in a year, I predict! 🙂

I can dial my Luxura pen for Humalog up and down easily.

I really would like a half unit pen though but can't get one for humalog - would need to switch to Novorapid I think!

Enjoy your new pen!

I've only ever known the Novo 4 and the Echo so the ability to dial it up and down was I thought standard! Just as well as I often forget which pen I'm using and count the wrong number of clicks because of the half unit on the echo!

seriously we can get them? Ace any help like that would be a bit of a plus! Does it give the time since last dose and what that dose was or what does it show/tell??

I just asked my GP to prescribe one 🙂 It doesn't show actual time, but it has a little screen on the end of the pen that shows what the last dose was and a little indicator showing how many hours (or fractions of hours) since the last dose! Get one Rossi! 🙂

Well from a distance they do look really nice!

I have to say from a distance, even though hubby had his Echo now for well over a month, he's not actually let me anywhere near it to have a good look at it, he did allow me to read the instruction though:(

Rossi he asked our DSN for it, more because he'd had a couple near missing with almost injecting Novorapid instead of his Levimer 😱

Cheers all I will when I see them next, had a few occasions lately not sure if I had injected at all after meals, so I think I would benefit!

Yes, I think that you become so used to it that it's automatic and you get distracted by other things and forget! 🙄 Always nice to have a shiny new toy too 🙂

So are they available on prescription?

Yup! My GP found it no problem 🙂

I've still to get used to the fact I now have half units available - this lunchtime I bolused 5 and then realised after injecting that I could have tried 4.5. Sure enough, two hours after lunch and I was down to 3.2 due to gardening! Dropping by another half unit might have just kept me in range.

Cheers Northerner, getting this pen will take away that element of doubt I sometimes get.
