Hi got my hbA1c result back today and really please it has reduced from 7.6 to 6.5. Really pleased with the results but know I could of done better as my diet and exercise has really gone off the boil the last few months. Actually put 5 pounds on in weight since my last test in November. 😱

Still along way to go but defintely going in the right direction.

Nurse is really pleased with me and is happy for me to continue as I am with the diet and exercise regime. Will review again in the November. When I told the nurse that I had been struggling with the diet and exercise over the last few months loosing and putting on the same 5 pounds since Christmas she has given me details of a scheme called New Life New You which has been funded till at least December 2011. It is a scheme for people between 45 and 65 who are concerned about there weight and health. It is a programme that will give you friendly group and individual support. It will support you in making changes to your activity levels, eating choices and lifestyle changes that will make a difference to your weight, health and wellbeing.🙂 So I am have registered myself for that and have a 30 minute assessment booked for next Thursday. And all I pay is ?1 per session.

So watch out for the new me 🙂. Joking a side I am lucky that I have been give this opportunity so am go to make the best of it and introduce myself to some new activities over the coming months.

On the leaflet it say 'There will be no lycra and lettuce leaves' :D

That is an excellent improvement Sheilagh, and you know that there is more in the tank for even better numbers next time around! I hope that the course gives you lots of motivation to get back to the exercise and lost those stubborn pounds! 🙂

woooo weeeee fantasic results !!! you should be well proud of yourself !! well done 🙂

Well done on a great result and aren't you sounding more positive tonight! :D

The scheme you mention sounds very similar to something I did a few years ago but under a different name. Ours was called Change for Life (before the government pinched the idea and name!) It was a 20 week course aimed at people with life long conditions such as diabetes. It consisted of weekly 2 hour sessions. The first hour was usually about nutrition and diet advise and the second part was excercise based. Before the course finished we were told about other exercise oppertunities in the area and given a chance to try a few of them. I didn't like the gym so settled for an aerobics class which I enjoyed for a couple of years until it closed because of lack of funding (sigh).

I hope you enjoy the scheme. XXXXX

Well done. Since Ive lost weight, I feel more active and is waiting for a neuro physio to see me with some ideas of exercise.

I am still waiting for my first HBAc1 to be done.

Well done , great results 🙂

well done with those results Sheilagh 🙂

hope you enjoy your New Life New You scheme x

Well done Sheilagh!! 🙂

Good going Sheilagh.🙂

Just goes to show you can ride the short term blips as long as you get back in the saddle and make up for lost time.

Be proud of what you've acheived and once you're where you want to be, you'll wonder what all the fuss was about ! :D
