I really want Jam on toast!!

Does anybody eat the reduced sugar versions? or should I just step away for the jar right now ??

HHEEELLLLPPPPP 😱

I have had the reduced sugar variety, but not keen. I used to regularly have jam on toast and was fine with it as long as I injected for it sufficiently in advance. More recently I have been buying proper butter to put on my toast and prefer the taste of that - I realised that I was putting the jam on because the psread I had been using was pretty tasteless. I still use vegetable spread on ordinary bread fr sandwiches etc., but now it's butter for toast for me! 🙂

A lot will depend on whether you can stop once you've started Di! 🙂

Well that is the problem I've got at the moment - I'm on a no fat diet and not really eating a great deal anyway (had another sneaky step on the scales this morn and seem to have lost another lb ) - I just need something really good to eat !!

I Tell you after I have recovered from my op (which is gonna be in at least 8 weeks) - I'm gonna have a chicken madras and then I'm gonna have either some sticky toffee pudding or chocolate fudge cake mmm mmm mmm. (or both 🙄)

Why am I torturing myself boo hoo !!

I'll tell you what. You just list all the naughty things you want to eat here and I'll eat them all for you and say how much I hated doing it?

Why a no-fat diet? Fat is what keeps you from feeling hungry. You'll just find yourself eating more protein (which converts to blood sugar), or more carbs (which will really ruin your blood sugar).

If you're a T2, far better to cut down on carbs and replace with fat if you want to lose weight. Whenever your BG rises over normal levels, your insulin starts storing that excess glucose as fat. Eat fewer carbs, you won't get excess glucose, hence you won't store fat.

Whereas if you cut out fat and increase your carb intake....well, your BGs will rise more quickly, meaning you'll have larger spikes that will need to be converted to fat.

Thanks for the info DeusXM and I know where you are coming from, I'm not trying to lose weight (its complicated) - but I have gall stones and am waiting to have my gall bladder removed. I have just spent the last week in hospital with a serious infection of the gall bladder and unfortunately until it is removed I have no choice but to cut out all fat from my very low fat intake to stop attacks and stay well. I cannot have my operation while I have an infection or any imflamation.

Here goes.....
Pork Sausages
chicken madras
Chocolate Fudge Cake
Sticky toffee pudding
Rose wine - just a glass or two
Sirloin Steak
Chips
Melton Mawbry Pie (now this is usually a once a year little sneaky peaky treat)
Ben & Jerry's ice cream - any flavour you like except cherry yuck
Macaroni Cheese

I'll be back later with more :D

Di...Is that for lunch or supper, if its for lunch I would cut out the pie, otherwise it might be to much.🙂 xxx

Shame about the need for low fat
Lower sugar jams though tend to either have certain other sweeteners which have certain unpleasant intestinal side effects ( and still have some impact on blood glucose) or be sweetened with grapejuice ( personally I find this brand delicious but you might just as well have the full sugar variety as far as blood glucose control goes). You probably find the carbs in toast does you little good anyhow- am I right ?
How about some berries- unsweetened ( maybe frozen- probably more econimical to buy) with just a little bit of granulated sweetner if you prefer them sweeter. I am told that many people can tolerate berries better than most other fruits

Little Scarlet Strawberry

I have a liking for 'Tiptree' Little Scarlet Strawberry conserve, I would occasionally have a small amount on toast, this was however prior to diagnosis.

Since then if I really fancy some I just put a very thin spread on one piece of toast, but only occasionally as a treat, it has to be that, an occasional treat.

I suppose that I am lucky I do not have a 'sweet' tooth.

Remember I would say have your jam as an occasional treat, but spread thinly.

Enjoy😎

The diabetic jam from morrisons is yuk,but I fell for the trap of getting it when I was first diagnosed soon woke up to that
