Attended the eye clinic today for a three month follow up following a blocked book vessel in my eye.
Doctor has discharged me because the haemorage has healed and there is no damage or sign of diabetes in my eyes.
He did say however that the longer you have high blood glucose the greater the risk of damage.
Something I have been wondering for some time, what is tested before major surgery as I had an operation four years ago for breast cancer and lots of tests were done before hand so I asked the question.
Apparently they test for diabetes and treat it very seriously if a general anaesthetic is needed so I now know I have developed this horrible condition less than four years ago.
As associated conditions develop over many years being diagnose so quickly has much reduced the possibility of complications apparently.
Onward to my three monthly HbA1C tomorrow, wish me luck!
