I went to the opticians last night and had the best eye test I've had in a long time. After the one everyone says I should have gone to proved they couldn't organise a party in a cocktail bar I changed opticians. I was there for the best part of an hour.😎

My eyes were tested for how well I see, and they used something called optimax to look inside my eyes to make sure all is well (this is not a substitute for a retinal scan it is something different), had the puffer test and the pressure in my eyes is normal. The last thing they did before I chose my new glasses was a visual field test. You get one eye blanked off and you put your heat in a funny box and look at a red light. Every time you see a flash you press a button. After a couple of minutes they uncover the eye and cover the other one and you do the sane again. That was normal.😎

I wish I had gone to the new opticians years ago. It was nice to get he undivided attention of the optician without some one knocking on the examining room door to ask questions as they do in the other place.😎

Glad that you found a good opticians Caroline. Our eyes are so precious so its good that you can seen someone that you feel is doing a good job.

The new opticians is more expensive than the one we are told we should have one to, but worth it for the better more personal service and undivided attention.

So pleased that all is well with your eye tests Caroline, our eyesight is such a precious thing. Well done on moving Optician that can make the world of difference can't it?

take care,

Shirl

I've been going to my local Specsavers for years and have all the tests mentioned. I know others don't have such good results from other branches but I can't praise mine enough.

My local specsavers couldn't organise a party in a pub and they almost push you out of the shop when you are done these days. They used to be quite good, but these days, not so hotso.

My last test was at specsavers, they did all those tests mentioned and were really thorough, he even asked if I was diabetic.... this was about 2 days before I was dx!! They were very kind and asked all sorts of questions, I felt like I'd had a real good test there. I will go again, I expect it's down to the staff and the opticians themselves - but I have no complaints so far.
