at the request of a doctor last week she wanted me to attend for an examination which was with another doctor. when i saw the name of the doctor i was pretty sure i knew the name from a previous surgery.

any way if you do go to the doctors and feel like you have got no where and have access to shared records then some times it is all way checking what they have put as things might not be as they seem.

this is what the examination revealed but was it a good outcome or was there something more to the findings? i will be back on with what it is.

doctors comments -

no vomiting, no reflux sx,no haematemesis, no PR bleed, no fever,no sweating, rash, no leg swelling, no recent illness.
looked mildly bloated

you will be blown away when i reveal some of the above.

Not sure what point you are trying to make, though I doubt I’ll be blown away, never have been by anything - apart from when Blackburn Rovers won the Premiership. I challenge you to beat that :D

Well the doctor's comments certainly look encouraging @mikeydt1. I assume from your post that this isn't the case?

the whole idea of attending was for examination of the abdomen and DRE the latter was never carried out but if you look the doctor still put no PR bleed and never even asked anything about blood in stool.

no vomiting (never asked anything ), no reflux - (i am diagnosed with reflux as i have no gall bladder and am on meds! also endoscopy showed problems within abdomen was never asked about this! sx,no haematemesis - wasn't asked but thank god i don't have this, no PR bleed - no rectal examination carried out!, no fever - never ask and temp not taken! ,no sweating - i was clammy and when i got off the examine table the paper towel was wet!, rash - not checked!, no leg swelling - this is the best one no legs were checked!, no recent illness - suffer with diverticulosis.

when i went in her computer was not on and she was using a bit of paper.

makes me wonder what the hell went through her mind to do such a thing? one thing she would be good working for CHDA as they tell some really good porky pies and get away with it.

waste of time reporting them as they just tell lies to get away with mistakes.

after this so called examination i became worse and had a bleed now on some treatment but so far not really working.

It sounds awful, hope the bleeding is calming down now. I'm sorry you've been so let down

Aside from the medical implications, if your record contains errors, you have the right to challenge and where necessary, corrected.

I had to go through that myself a few years ago why my aggressive breast fibromatosis and (benign) spindle cell tumour were recorded as carcinoma. Reading that took the edge off my day!

The non-medical Practise Manager told me the two things were the same.

We had to chat a little more following that. I did mention that my record would be corrected. At that point all that was in question was how embarrassed she could end up being. I left her pondering that concept, but my record was amended by a doctor later in the day.

These things shouldn't happen, but sometimes they do, and for me, that is the importance of patient access. I check my record after every interaction.

We've never been able to delve into ours in such detail - we have to trust them to record whatever it is ...... and so far, other doctors we've seen with any ongoing probs, since they can access what records already exist for a patient, have confirmed they're both there and correct.

Been much easier since March in fact, cos you don't have to wait around so long when you need anything cos they do actually try to triage and help you quicker when you have an already known medical prob that could require urgent action.

it is a lot of stuff to write up when questions haven't been asked or anything checked what she wrote.

the problem then comes if you are still ongoing with symptoms as the next doctor sees what the previous put and presumes things have checked out okay which in turns can prevent you getting the problem dealt with.

when i spoke to the doctor on Wednesday i was totally unaware of what had taken place but sensed something wasn't right which is why i checked the shared access. shock is what i felt.

to be honest i have been riddled with pain and got up feeling sick and dizzy. if it carries on then i have the option of 111 or a+e

Doesn’t sound very professional, for sure. Mind you, the reason for doing a DRE are either as part of a routine health check, usually by your own GP, or investigating symptoms such bleeding from the rectum or blood in the bowel motions. If you haven’t had such symptoms, then not having the DRE is less of a worry, but you should ask your GP why it was requested, and you also might ask why they couldn’t do it.

I had a similar experience with a locum consultant neurologist who told porkies in his letter to my GP, reporting signs and symptoms that had never been examined, whereupon my GP referred me to the Walton Centre in Liverpool, the top neurology unit in the a north West.

But you shouldn’t have to complain to get decent service from NHS England, the geographical variability in standards is frightening.

@mikeydt1 It sounds as if you have the same mob as employed by my local surgery.
I hit the roof when I saw what a nurse practitioner had written in my notes. Complained to the GP about it and put the record straight which now involves an emergency hospital apt within 2 weeks of speaking to him.
As things stand imho the NHS at grass root level is not fit for purpose and in some cases a tad more than detrimental to patients health.

One of the receptionists decided to play Dr when I rang up and pointed out the wrong blood tests had been conducted by the hospital so needed to speak to somebody about it please. Her reply was you have a phone call booked with your GP at the end of the week so discuss it then. I pointed out that was 4 days away and with the weekend and xmas the tests would not be done in time. Her reply was it wasn't her problem and put the phone down. I think a P45 rather than an xmas card would be suitable for the person concerned.

@Pumper_Sue - what a nasty bitch - not exactly helpful when you ring and you ain't feeling well to begin with, ie the precise time people ring their GP surgery.

Wherever do they find such people - if she's nasty like that to people in her job, God help her family. You simply cannot take things personally when you have a telephone job .....

DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER

applies equally in both directions of a conversation.

mike the DRE is to check the prostate as i get prostatitis last time the pain travelled from back to front and was really sore. soon gets cleared up with treatment.

Sue i like the wording 'mob' you never know could be the same bunch.

Of course I know that the DRE can be used to check the prostate, but as you hadn’t mentioned that you get prostatis in your post, I can’t be expected to guess that.

And as that is basic medicine, I still don’t understand why your own doctor didn’t do it. It only takes two minutes, though it can seem longer. I’ve done more than you’ll ever have in your lifetime.

Mikeydt - in your shoes, I'd take the document you commented upon and put each point on a line in a table - next comment whether the relevant question was asked, next whether the exam took place.

That make your report punchy, and does away for all the need to join paragraphs together, or get very stressed as you relive matters.
