Type 2
Hi please help my husband has been diagnosed type 2. We were given a 3 page booklet and a bm monitor. That's it no appointments no advice nothing.
His bm is anywhere from 3.3 to 25.8
We have cut down on sugar and carbs by have no clue what we are doing.

Hi and welcome to the forum Sarah and hubby. Sounds like the usual diagnosed and left to fend for oneself.you need to badger your gp and get an appointment it's not right to just leave your husband clueless

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear you have had little support. There is some really great links in the newbie section at the top on how best to test and what it can tell you. You sound like you have made a good start, reducing carbs. There are lots of great ideas I need the recipe section and I'm sure someone with better IT skills than me can put direct links to the testing stuff I mentioned if you have trouble finding it. Please ask away if you have any questions, we are a lovely friendly bunch 🙂

Hello Sarah,

Fear not, help is all around.

Bill.

Hi Sarah, the best thing I did when I was first diagnosed, apart from joining this forum was to read 'Reverse your diabetes' by Dr. David Cavan. It really helped me to get my head round things in understandable terms.
It's worth taking some time to get to understand diabetes. It's shameful that your husband has received no support or advice but sadly not unusual. Ask your GP to send you both on a course.

Best wishes and reduced carbs, smaller portions, more exercise and keep hydrated would be my advice. And test! I found cutting the bread down helped immediately.
