I am going out for an indian tonight with friends and would like to know any suggestions what I can have off the menu bearing in mind my diabetes and the fact that I am losing weight.

In the old days, pre-diabetes, I would normally have:-
Starter : onion bhajis or samosas
Main : Rogan josh with pilau rice + a naan bread washed down with plenty of wine.

Bearing in mind carbs and all that, would it be best to have one or the other? ie rice OR naan (or maybe chappati etc).

thanks

I'm OK with rice, but naan is one of my worst 'no-no's :( Hope you enjoy your meal! 🙂

Yup, naan = bad. Very, very bad. Which is a shame because I'd rather have naan than rice, but it does horrifying things to my numbers. :(:(

My choice would be garlic mushrooms for starters, followed by tandoori mixed grill with half a portion of basmati rice and a side dish of vegetable curry. Whatever you go for, enjoy!

Hi all, thanks for your suggestions, in the end I decided to have no starter, chicken tikka and asked for some masala sauce on the side which I only added about a couple of spoonfuls, a chappati and a large glass of wine 🙂. I didn't have any rice, enjoyed the meal, felt really stuffed and although I didn't check my BS levels post-meal (we got home late and went straight to bed) I felt OK so I think I made the right choices and didn't 'overload' on carbs.
