I am going on holiday to Majorca for a week on tues and the deal is all inclusive (i've never been all inclusive before, first time) but i am already fretting as i am just worried that i will 'fall off the rails' and undo all my hard work going to the gym and losing weight :( I want to enjoy my holiday of course but don't want to come back to having put weight on and start all over again - it's so hard isn't it? :(

I suspect that because of all your hard work and success you will feel much less like overindulging. I find it really difficult and frankly unappealing these days to 'slob out' 🙂 Make sure you get out and about a lot and keep active whilst you are there, and try to go for healthy options at meal times - you can still have treats, but make them special 🙂

One of the best pieces of advice given by my dsn was this, ''when on holiday enjoy yourself and let diabetes take a back seat''. This doesn't imply that you don't take insulin or meds, neither does it mean not to test, all she meant was to relax and enjoy and don't worry about over indulging and the occasional high. Enjoy the break🙂

Mine said a similar thing, but I guess it's the weight gain as much as anything that you are worried about? In the summer when I went away, I allowed myself the odd treat in terms of higher fat content (steered well clear of sugary things like ice cream), just made sure I controlled the portion size. Eat what you want, but if it's high in calories, eat less of it. I did gain 3 pounds but lost it again the week I came home. As soon as you get home, get back on track the same day. Enjoy it. You'll be fine!🙂 Katiexx Ps. I'm off for a week in Spain at the end of the month, so I'll need your support!:D

I know what you mean! I just got back from holiday this morning (just the Isle of Wight so not quite as exotic!!) I did treat myself but in moderation. If I knew I was having a 'naughty' dinner I made sure I had a 'well behaved' lunch etc. Also only indulged in chips and icecream once :D. I don't feel like I missed out on anything but I certainly noticed the difference between what I ate this time and what the old me would have chosen! Haven't weighed myself yet so not sure on the damage but hopefully all that walking will have helped! 😉

Have a lovely holiday, keep your diet in mind but make sure you treat yourself too 🙂

Carina, go and enjoy your holiday. Have lots of walks and do some swimming. If you have a drink or to, or indulge a little the walking and swimming will help my love.

I'm going to an all inclusive, with a 4 day tour of the Mayan ruins and plan on lots of swimming, walking and possibly a little running.

Have a great holiday x

carina ..as others have said ..go and have a good time ..moderate but have fun..it will do you so much good x

thank you all for your comments, i intend on doing lots of walking as activity is very important to my life now since becoming diabetic and will enjoy my holiday and just get right back on track with the gym and diet when i get back 🙂
