His answer: chocolate coated Kendle Mint Cake! :D

Mind you, I think it's good he's aware o the dangers of the heat and keeping on top of things. He did very well during his weekend away, reducing insulin to take account of increased activity, being up half the night, and the heat.

Sounds like he's got it all in hand Kate - good news 🙂 Ooh! Haven't had KMC since diagnosis - love the brown sugar version!

I like kendal mint cake too, but only have it as a treat. The chap I work with takes it cycling, he's not diabetic, but it is an energy hit when cycling up hills...

I love the brown stuff too!

We used to take great slabs of it off up the hills when I went out with the mountaineering lot at uni. That, a banana or two, a large slab of ripe Cheddar, and a chunk of hefty fruicake made for a very portable lunch!

Hope the exams are going well by the way. I seem to remember it always being like this when I took my exams, but then I did do my O levels in the heatwave of 1976! 😱 Wasn't diabetic back then though.

I was at uni by then...

The GMNT had the last exam today: stats! :( BOOOOORING! He seems reasonably satisfied with most of them. And if they aren't as good as he wants, he can resit some papers later.

However hot it may have been outside, I always came out of exams freezing cold! Must have been all that concentration!

Chocolate coated Kendal mint cake is lovely, but NOT if it's too hot or too cold! Chocolate melts and you really don't want chocolatey finger prints on an exam paper. Anything with toffee is not good if temperature is well below 0oC, either - there are well documented incidents of people breaking teeth when biting into chocolate bars eg Mars bars deep in the field in Antarctica, then having to endure dental treatment from doctors who have had just a short course in dentistry 🙂

Scottish tablet is good for hills, as it stays soft and not too sticky at all UK temperatures.

He had the KMC when he got home, so not too much mess!

And yes, must dig out my granny's Tablet recipe...
