If you have a Glucagen Hypokit, do you store it in the fridge?

R collected my prescription yesterday - pharmacist gave him one bag containing insulin, from the fridge, and one bag containing other things, which hadn't been in fridge. R therefore put the insulin into our fridge and the other things in the dining room for me to deal with later.

Today I picked up the other things and the Glucagen, which I haven't had before, says on the label "Store in refridgerator". So I have now put it in the fridge. But not before noticing that on the back in smaller print it says both store in refridgerator between 2-8 degrees, and user can store up to 25 degrees.

Does it matter?!

It lasts longer stored in the fridge. I can't remember the time difference though as can not use it myself.

I keep ours in the fridge normally, but if it gets left out by mistake or if we are travelling with it then I don't worry about it!

Thank you both! Glad to hear it doesn't really matter - I thought that was probably the case, but also a bit odd that the pharmacist had put on the label to store in fridge but not done so himself 🙄

Thanks Sue, that's the same thing it says on the packet - just below where it says Glucagen should be stored in fridge bit it says: "GlucaGen HypoKit should be stored at a temperature of 2-8°C (in a refrigerator). The user can store GlucaGen HypoKit at a temperature not exceeding 25°C for 18 months provided that the expiry date is not exceeded."

Sounds like it is better kept in fridge but will survive out of one, so long as it doesn't get too hot.

Mike - thanks. I am hoping never to have to use it too, as I'm likely to have a nasty allergic reaction to it, but I've been losing hypo awareness and thinking maybe a day or two of muscle spasms and v&d would be better than a coma ... 🙄
