Hi all, been on gliclazide for about a year, i find i am bad tempered and get down a lot more than before, i am under a lot more pressure at work and not sure if this is the problem or if the tablets are making the work pressures worse. is it the tables that could be causing this?I hate to admit it but i am tearful, and a big strapping scot like me just isnt normally like that, so if anyone can help I would be really grateful,

First check to see if anything like what you are describing appears in the patient information leaflet supplied with your glicazide. However, whether bad temper or stress is mentioned or not, it's the sort of thing you should aks your GP about to discuss possible approaches to reducing the problems, through perhaps adjusting glicazide doses, adjusting diet (particularly carbohydrate content) & increasing exercise (diet & exercise best done in combination with blood glucose testing to monitor effects yourself), considering counselling and mood medication etc. Also worth tackling the work issue by discussing with appropriate people, according to your situation eg perhaps union rep, perhaps HR etc, although it's a delicate balance to avoid making situation worse, even though admitting difficulties should not increase problems.

Always good to see a man in a kilt - my Dad wears his whenever the situation justifies it.

Hi Will,

I've been on Gliclizide for a few years now and I haven't noticed this as a side effect. I have just looked at PIL and it is not listed as one of the known side effects but that said it doesn't mean thats not the case for you. If you are very worried I would suggest that you go to your GP for some advice and reassurance, failing that could you perhaps talk to the pharmacist?

I wish you all the best,

Shirl
