I was nowhere near a hypo until last night when I recorded 3.5 before evening meal. The day before at the same time, I was 14.5.
Same lunch and drinks both days. Go figure!
It works by making your pancreas produce more Insulin.

Well I’ve just done after lunch test, and I’ve gone down to 7.5! That’s the lowest daytime reading I’ve seen for ages, I’ve been mid to late teens for weeks. Incredibly thirsty though, just can’t drink enough, and yes my stomach is gurgling away like I’ve eaten something dodgy.

Hi Madeline, for what it is worth I was put on 120 mg gliclazide early on and that and carb reduction bought my BG's down with a crash. I caught things when my BG got into the 4's and backed off the gliclazide after talking things through with the DN. Now on 40 mg gliclazide and low carbs and sort of stable. So for me it worked but carb reduction was far more effective and by careful watching of BG I avoided any proper hypos by reducing the gliclazide to balance the carbs I ate. I am pretty sure I would have been in a right old pickle without my meter!

I’m on low carbs, virtually no carbs, because of the high dose steroids I’m struggling to control the BG at all.

Aaaand I’m incredibly stupid. The stomach issues are entirely down to discovering sugar free sweets. So dumb. Won’t be making that mistake again!

Ooopsie! Packet of Werther's lasts me forever - one at a time!

Don't get me wrong Madeline - butterscotch is an absolute fave since I was little, but farting isn't ! Hence I'll eat a couple of normal sweets and have insulin for em, when I want to eat another sweet ! One good thing about false gnashers is hard sweets - just stick em in and gradually let em melt. Last ages. Can't crunch anything that isn't absolutely brittle now!

When my teeth start to go wrong I am having them all whipped out and false ones made. I’m not faffing about trying to shore them up.

Which reminds me, does anyone else get really sensitive teeth when their BGs are high?

Well I’ve been on it since Saturday, doubled the dose this morning to 80mg, and I can’t say that I’m seeing any difference. Slightest sniff of a carb sends me straight into 14-15 territory. Sigh.
